The Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime will be the company’s latest budget friendly handset that is manufactured at Xiaomi and Foxconn facility in Andhra Pradesh, Made In India. Xiaomi as promised, has launched its first smartphone, which was actually released in China earlier this year as the Redmi 2 Enhanced Edition. Now that the Redmi 2 Prime is not only coming to India, it is going to be priced at the equivalent of $104 USD.
The smartphone was announced by AP’s Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and has been manufactured by the company’s first phone plant in Vizag. The new Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime is now available to buy via the company’s online store, Mi.com alongside other company’s online retail partners including Amazon, Flipkart, and Snapdeal.
Redmi 2 Prime Specifications
In terms of specs, the Prime is an upgraded version of Xiaomi Redmi 2, currently available in India at Rs 5999. nly difference between the these two variants is that the former Redmi 2 features a 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, whereas the Redmi 2 Prime packs a 2GB of RAM and 16GB ROM onboard. Screen size goes with a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display with AGC Dragontrail Glass protection. Under the hood, it is powered by the 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916 ) 64-bit processor with Adreno 305 GPU, comes with expandable microSD card support up to 32GB.
It has a Dual SIM with dual standby functionality that supports 4G LTE (TD-LTE 2300MHz (Band 40) and FDD-LTE 1800MHz (Band 3) for India), 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, USB OTG. It packs a 2200mAh battery. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat based on MIUI v6 UI skin on top and poses with an 8MP rear camera with LED Flash, BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture, Omnivision sensor, 1080p video recording and 2MP front-facing camera with 720p HD video recording.
