Vivo has launched Y55L, the company’s latest budget 4G smartphone in the ‘Y’ series in India. The successor to the Y51L has been priced at Rs. 11,980. Also announced Kent Cheng as the new CEO for Vivo India’s Operations. He joined Vivo earlier this year and “has been instrumental in the brand’s overall journey and has been contributing to making it a world class enterprise,” said the company.
The Vivo Y55L comes with some highlights that includes a split-screen feature for multitasking and an eye protection mode that actually reduces blue light for a transformable screen brightness. It will be available in Gold and Space Grey colors.
Vivo Y55L Specifications
In brief, the new Y55L smartphone has a 5.2-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) IPS 2.5D curved-edge glass display. It is powered by 1.4GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC clocked at (4 x 1.2 GHz Cortex A53 + 4 x 1.5 GHz Cortex A53) 64-bit processor and also aligned with Adreno 505 GPU. With 2GB LPDDR3 RAM, the Y55L phone also includes 16GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
On the software front, the Vivo Y55L runs Funtouch OS 2.6 on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. Has a dual SIM function (micro+nano) option, offers 4G with voice-over-LTE (VoLTE), WiFi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, Micro-USB with USB OTG. Packing a 2650mAh battery. Features an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera sensor.
The Vivo Y55L will be available across India starting October 15th. Commenting on the appointment, Kent Cheng, the newly appointed CEO of Vivo India, said:
