The highly-anticipated Android 5.0 update rumors and speculations are spreading like Ebola for an array of different devices. LG G3 Lollipop update already rolled out and now spreads to more European countries. Samsung is yet another big giant ready to deliver updates to their current flagship lineup.
The 2013’s phablet, aka the Galaxy Note 3 is by all means set to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update and last month we have even saw a demo video of an early build running on it. Since then not much have been spoken about the new ROM and fairly, given Samsung’s previous update schedule the heavily customized version of Android, with new TouchWiz still seems a long way off, due simply to the sheer amount of work that has to be put in transforming it to that traditional Samsung flavor of the OS.
New rumor regarding the Lollipop update for Note 3 has surfaced today via samsungviet.vn and one that appears to be very credible and backed up by photos. Uploaded photos by an user on their blog which shows up on what he claims is his SM-N900U unit running Android 5.0. He acquired it was by his own account from the samsung-updates.com website, where the build was supposedly uploaded by accident and then immediately taken down. Photo here is the proof!
The ROM however hasn’t leaked and the screenshot, despite its tiny resolution does pose significant holes in the convincing story. Opening the URL visible in the browser window we indeed find a collection of updates for the Exynos powered Galaxy Note 3, and find no version 5.0 ROM.
Looking closer at the evidence the only thing that seems to differ between the current most-recent update and the Lollipop build in question is the OS Version column. Everything else from the build number is up to date and the change list are noticeable. The build number on the handset screen does not match the one on the site.
Could be a Photoshop work, and the other option is that there was a genuine mix-up and one lucky individual got hold of what truly is a functioning Android 5.0 for the Note 3 (SM-N900U). Take it with a grain of salt, until Samsung rolls out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its Galaxy Note 3 in the upcoming days.
