Cheaper 5K Retina iMac And 15-inch MacBook Pro With Force Touch Released

Apple has announced updates to its 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro lineup and a new $1,999 configuration of the 27-inch iMac with 5K Retina display, following a report confirming that the two machines could be released by Apple this Wednesday. Details on the two new refreshed MacBook Pro and iMac models pricing and availability can be checked right after this jump.

2015 iMac with Retina 5K Display

Is slightly a cheaper variant of the iMac with Retina 5K display. Building on the mammoth of a machine that the original Retina 5K iMac was, and the new desktop from the company has taken most fans by surprise. The CPU clock speed has been curtailed on this specific model, though not by much. Good news is that, the price of the higher-end iMac with Retina 5K display has also been dropped. The new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display model gets a 3.3GHz configuration with a quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of memory, and 1TB hard drive.


2015 15-inch MacBook Pro With Retina Display

With the introduction of the Force Touch trackpad on the 13-inch MacBook Pro and 12-inch Retina MacBook this year, now, it has finally landed on the larger 15-inch Pro models, with “built-in force sensors and a Taptic Engine that delivers haptic feedback”. After receiving a refresh to the lineup, which indeed brings faster performance and a longer battery life as well. The new MacBook Pro comes in 2.2GHz and 2.5GHz configurations, come with a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB memory, and Intel Iris Pro Graphics cards, with the higher-end 2.5GHz model gaining expected boosts in flash storage and memory, courtesy of the introduction of the 5th-gen Intel Core CPUs.

Notably, the new 15-inch MacBook Pro and 27-inch iMac still have Intel’s fourth-generation Haswell processors, Apple may choose to skip Broadwell CPUs and use next-generation Skylane processors for the next version of the notebook and all-in-one desktop computer respectively.

Both the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro with Force Touch trackpad and 27-inch Retina 5K iMac are available to purchase right now from Apple’s online store. Estimated shipping time of between 1-3 business days as of announcement time.

* The base model iMac with Retina 5K display is priced at $1,999, whereas the plder yet higher-end iMac’s price has been reduced to $2,299.

* The 15-inch MacBook Pro’s entry level model is available for $1,999, while the higher-end notebook comes with a rice atg of $2,499. Shipping in 1-3 business days, and the lower end has been slated for a shipment time of just 1 day.
