Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: WWII, following a bunch of leaks, trailer and game suggestions earlier on predicting the return of the franchise in what would be a visit back to its roots; the original CoD. Details will be revealed at the scheduled release date on April 26.
Call of Duty: WWII, a new Activision’s 2017 game coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC and possibly Nintendo Switch later this year. As promised previously, this new entry in the yearly Call of Duty series is going “back to its roots” with a WW2 setting will hopefully spark similar levels of interest as Battlefield 1 last year.
The newly revealed WW2 Call of Duty game, comes from the developers behind 2014’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – developed Sledgehammer Games.
The first Call of Duty title was released back in 2003, and gave players a taste of the British, American, and Soviet theaters set in World War 2. Activision only returned to that ear in 2008 with COD: World at War, but since then has instead focused on advancing through the age of modern era warfare.
Nevertheless, the COD: WWII has its own kind of almost-decade old history, Activision hasn’t released any additional details on the title as yet, instead teasing up with a promotional image. The only missing thing from today’s introduction is footage of the game in action, but it has been confirmed that will showcased this in full next week as part of a special livestream.
In fact it will be revealing more about the game on this Wednesday, April 26 during the Call of Duty: WWII Worldwide Reveal Livestream.
Call of Duty returns to its World War II roots with Call of Duty: WWII, developed by Sledgehammer Games. More details are incoming during the game’s Worldwide Reveal livestream on Wednesday, April 26 featuring Sledgehammer Games co-studio heads and founders Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield. Fans will be able to tune in to get a first look at Call of Duty: WWII and get intel on the studio’s vision for the game.
The latest WW2 themed first-person-shooter game released later this year in at a time when last year’s Infinite Warfare title – as noted by Activision while addressing investors – added features that would again become a standard part of COD gamers for that matter.
The developer, Sledgehammer Games has been responsible for the popular Dead Space game, has also been a part of the popular COD: Modern Warfare 2 which came out in 2011 and its credentials.
The official Call of Duty: WWII livestream will take place on the 26th April at 6PM BST. Make a note of this date right now! No exact time frame has been mentioned, though previous leaks has suspected that the game title will arrive on November 3.
As always, we will keep you updated with all the Call of Duty: WW2 news as and when it becomes available. For now, you just mark your calendars for the 26th of April. Stay tuned for more!
