Download: Apple Clips iOS Video App For iPhone And iPad Released

Apple has announced a new social video creation & editing app “Clips” late last month, but did not give an exact release date for it, though simply saying that it would be made available sometime in April.

Today, it has been confirmed that the actual Clips app set to pop up on the App Store right now. The free app, available for iPhones and iPads, allowing users to create custom videos in the square format that we have become accustomed to for social media usage these days.

Apple Clips app is free

Clips lets users combine videos, images, and even music into one seamless video that can then be shared through iMessage, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and elsewhere. Users can even create animated captions called “Live Titles” using only their voice, and easily apply effects such as comic book filters, speech bubbles, and shapes.

Fortunately, it does allow users to share the videos they create with a host of services, does not tie any specific network per se, while also letting them share their creations via other third-party apps thanks to the iOS Share Sheet.

A new iOS app for making and sharing fun videos with text, effects, graphics, and more.

As noted, Clips have a familiar square format popularized by Instagram. Individual video clips up to 30 minutes in length can be combined to create up to an hour-long video shareable in 1080p FHD format.

Getting media into Clips is a simple affair, with video able to be imported from a device’s photo library, and also being recorded in-app if users so wish. What does users do with that video is up to them, with all kinds of filters and overlays freely available to be applied at will.

Users get full access to four different ways in Clips app to apply effects from: Live Titles, Filters, Overlays, and Posters. This however gives users plenty of work with, depending on what effect they want to come out with at the other end.

As you expected becomes true, the Clips app is free and will be available in the App Store. You will definitely need to have iOS 10.3 or over installed on your iPhone in order to take advantage of Clips, so if you have not already updated to the latest iOS version, then you might want to do that now.

Clips app hands-on

We have added the download link to Clips app which is now live on the App Store. Hit the direct link below!

Clips are created in a square format, and are added to a basic timeline at the bottom of the screen. You can add individual video clips up to 30 minutes long to this timeline; and the total run time of a finished Clips video can be as long as 60 minutes. It’s also created and shared in 1080p HD, if your source video is HD. This is the kind of stuff that makes it much more of a video creation app than a Snapchat competitor.

Update x1: Clips app is now available to download from App Store here. But propagation issues may be temporarily causing the app to be listed as only available for iPad. Some users might have to try again later.
