No! We are not talking about the Gionee Elife E7 phablet which was released back in 2013, but talking about its successor variant long overdue. Dubbed Gionee Elife E8, will be the name of the next-generation model and is now apparently ready for prime time, as it shows up listed on Chinese FCC – a regulator TENNA’s website. Evidently, it shows that the next-generation Gionee Elife E series phablet carries a number of improvements over its predecessor. Most refreshed would be the screen size which has grown to 6-inches, compared to E7’s 5.5″ display, but the resolution has also seen a bump to 2560 x 1440 2k pixels.
According to the listing, it’s said to be honored by an AMOLED panel by the way. TENNA hasn’t typically specified chipset model though, left unknown what SoC inside the Elife E8 comes with an Octa-Core processor clocked at 2GHz CPU. Snapdragon 810 it could be integrated onto the Gionee Elife E8, which usually clocked at 2.0GHz. RAM on this mysterious processor may go with a 3GB of memory, 32GB of on-board storage which can be expandable via microSD card.
Key features of the Elife E8 is the fingerprint sensor (scanner), which resides on its back, below the camera department, Huawei Acsend Mate7 like. The camera itself is equipped with an 8MP shooter, and given that the previous generation’s 16MP sensor, but wth 8-megapixel camera sounds more credible.
The 4G LTE-enabled Elife E8 measures 164.0 x 82.3 x 9.6mm and weighs a hefty 207g. It packs a 3520mAh battery unit and more to be revealed. When compared it to the Elife E7 which features a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2GB/3GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB internal storage, 16-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front-facing snapper. The Elife E8 will be a refreshed version of its series.
The device will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop with the company’s Amigo OS 3.0 on top of it, will rock a 24 megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and have a 8 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling.
No pricing details and availability – release date time frame will likely to become clear in the following weeks or so. As we can expect the official launch anytime now as the device has already been certified in China. Stay tuned!
