From the past several weeks we were accompanied by two new highly anticipated HTC-made Nexus devices codenamed Sailfish and Marlin for 2016. Leaked images and of course, the FCC filing in the U.S. hint HTC/Google-brand Nexus handsets will have the same basic industrial design and materials, but according to Android Police, will have different screen sizes.
By the way confirmed the two-tone design and makes it legitimate that HTC is officially announcing the two new Nexus smartphones for Google this year. Here are two different screen sizes of what we call them HTC-made Nexus 2016 handsets, one cropped images of a 5-inch Nexus device is the front, sides and back without any branding, could be the ‘Sailfish’. It also appears to be seen that metal unibody design as well. With a fingerprint scanner on the back of the handset is also visible. Google and HTC both are planning a “Marlin” 5.5-inch Nexus device, for those who like the larger form-factor.
Furthermore, the report also suggests that both 5-and 5.5-inch Nexus devices will have an identical two-tone design at the rear portion and carries similar specs expect that the screen size is different, resolution, and battery capacity, though.
It’s not clear when the 2016 Nexus handset will be announced. Official HTC documents spotted passing the desk of the FCC confirm a Nexus device from the Taiwan-based handset manufacturer, unfortunately, don’t mention a release date or specifications. But it was already discovered the fact that the Nexus Sailfish will sport a full HD 5-inch 1080p display, is powered by Snapdragon 820 SoC. Also expected to come with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Benchmarks listing claims at 12MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera on-board.
While the FCC listing confirms the upcoming two Nexus devices, which describes the two HTC Nexus smartphones with label number – G-2PW2100 and G-2PW4100 – are the new Nexus 2016 devices.
The declaration filed (dated July 20, 2016) alongside the HTC Corporation clarifies and makes a note of it as, “the user guide submitted for review [with these devices] is draft and the final version will be made publicly available on Google’s website (http://support.google.com/nexus) at the time the product is commercially released.”
If that’s the case, the G-2PW410 would be the larger 5.5″ HTC Marlin Nexus phone, and the G-2PW2100 will be the smaller HTC Sailfish Nexus. Both the devices are CDMA supported, which leads to what @evleaks mentioned in his Twitter account about the two Nexus devices coming to Verizon US this year.
