Huawei’s Honor 8 is now official. The company’s latest and top-end smartphone in the Honor series has been introduced in China. This is the flagship phone from the company’s more affordable sub-brand, and it does come with a larger number of similarities compared to other smartphones from the same manufacturer, for example the Huawei P9.
Features and Specs
The Honor 8 has a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) touchscreen with 2.5D curved glass display. It has a slim 7.45mm body with metal frame with glass back and equipped with a fingerprint sensor.
Processor, RAM and Storage
The new Huawei Honor smartphone is powered by an Octa-Core Kirin 950 with i5 co-processor CPU with four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at up to 2.3 GHz, and four Cortex-A53 cores that go up to 1.8 GHz. It is paired by 4GB of RAM, and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. Also available with 3GB RAM/32GB of storage, expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
The cheaper Honor 8 smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.0 UI on top. It’s a dual-SIM (hybrid) smartphone which one of the SIMs you can use a micro-SD card if you really need (the second SIM slot doubles as a microSD card slot so you can’t use two SIMs and an expansion card at the same time).
The highlight of the smartphone Honor 8 would be its 12MP dual rear-facing camera sensor with laser autofocus, dual-tone LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, 6P lens, 1.4um pixel size 1.76-micron lens promises brilliant image quality in low-light conditions, similar to what the Honor V8 does, introduced back in May. For selfies, there’s an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.4 aprture.
Connectivity and Battery
Dimensions wise, the Honor 8 measures in at 145.5 x 71 x 7.45 mm and weighs 153 grams. It supports 4G LTE, offering Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C. It has a 3000mAh battery cell with fast charging capabilities.
Price & Release Date
The Honor 8 will become available in China on July 19. It will be offered to purchase in Pearl White, Sunrise Gold, Midnight Black, Sakura Pink, and Sapphire Blue colors. Bore you consider it, some hardware versions won’t be available in all the colours.
The smartphone model with 3GB RAM + 32GB of storage is priced at CNY 1,999 ($298, €269, Rs. 20050 approx.). For the 4GB RAM plus 32GB built-in storage full “netcom/carrier” edition, the price is CNY 2,299 ($343, €310, Rs. 23,050 approx.) and the 4GB RAM with 32GB storage entire network version and 2499 yuan (US$ 374 / Rs. 25,070 approx.). When you choose the high-end smartphone with 4 Gigs of RAM and 64GB of storage, it will set you back at CNY 2,499 ($373, €337).
The Huawei Honor 8 is now available for order via Vmall China. An international launch hasn’t been announced at this point. Expect to see the Honor 8 being offered officially through Huawei store in Europe in the coming weeks.
