iOS 10.2 Jailbreak Imminent In Yalu Update For Non-iPhone 7 Devices, Do Not Update To iOS 10.2.1

It seems that an iOS 10.2 jailbreak is on its way forthcoming for non-iPhone 7 / 7 Plus 64-bit devices, suggesting that those who are interested should avoid updating to iOS 10.2.1 whenever Apple releases that firmware. Here are the details.

Latest status update of an iOS 10.2.x jailbreak for iPhone and iPad continues. If not you can jailbreak iOS 10.2.1 using the newer version of Pangu Jailbreak tool, created by Pangu and PP team.

Originally, Luca Todesco has updated his Yalu jailbreak tool that now supports more iOS devices while Prometheus, specifically its TSSChecker companion tool, which has been updated for better support of the iPhone 7 series. Developments pave the way to the release of the rumored iOS 10.2 jailbreak, which likely will be issued by Team Pangu?

The official word from Luca on the state of iOS 10.2 jailbreak is – or was still a day ago – that no jailbreak is planned for devices running iOS 10.2. It appears that should be a pretty definite declaration, until you see the rest of the information that basically advised all device owners avoid iOS 10.2.1 update, and make sure that blobs were saved for iOS 10.2 in case a jailbreak did drop for the said firmware.

As the jailbreak community waits for the next approval from the Chinese hacking team, presumably to finally release the JB tool that will improve on what Todesco already achieved with the Yalu iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak. Works were happening in the background, as one notable breakthrough is Prometheus creator tihmstar. And also seems like Luca has changed his plan regardingly. With the latest tweet from Italian developer hinting towards an update to Yalu+ Mach_Portal with support for jailbreak on non-iPhone 7 / 7 Plus 64-bit devices running iOS 10.2: “My fix for the issues in the 10.1 jailbreak will be to add support to 10.2. It will however not work on iPhone 7 on 10.2, just 10 and 10.1.”

There’s still no explanation given by Luca on why the jailbreak for iOS 10.2 wouldn’t work on iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, we can assume it’s because the exploit he is going to make use of for iOS 10.2 doesn’t actually work on Apple’s latest devices, and he didn’t want to burn another exploit on iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus for a public iOS 10.2 jailbreak.

According to the earlier statements from Luca that which you take into consideration, the fact is that the jailbreak creator is essentially stipulating that the iOS 10.2 update to Yalu jailbreak will also contain fixes that have been present in all Yalu betas to date, then it’s definitely great news for the jailbreak community.

Anyone running iOS 10.1.x or iOS 10.2 on a 64-bit non-iPhone 7 should not update to iOS 10.2.1 when Apple flips the switch on the release. iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus users should not update to anything over iOS 10.1.x as the upcoming Yalu jailbreak update for iOS 10.2 won’t work on those devices, as Luca suggested.

As soon as we get anything more about Luca and his progress in dropping the latest version of Yalu + Mach_Portal jailbreak for iOS 10.2, we let you know. Stay tuned.
