iOS 11.3 Firmware Finely Hints At iPad With Face ID, Here’s What It Looks Like

If not Apple is planning to release a next-generation iPad Pro this year with slim bezels and Face ID, something like iPhone X. According to Bloomberg News, an evidence for the upcoming tablet may have been uncovered in iOS 11.3. Here are the details and everything you need to know about it.

iHelpBR editor Filipe Espósito has discovered strings in the first iOS 11.3 beta – refers to a “modern iPad,” which is notable since Apple’s software engineers referred to the iPhone X as the “modern iPhone” in older firmware.

So Apple could redesign its next iPad Pro line with a Face ID technology this year. Clues about the next iPad may be hiding in Apple’s latest mobile software. A tweet has found a reference to an “iPad_Modern” in the code for the developer preview of iOS 11.3. Subtle hints that provide proof for the upcoming slate that will get these upgrades.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo already predicted last fail that the next iPad Pro refresh will include Face ID biometric security features first introduced with the iPhone X. While the “modern iPad” strings could be placeholders, as commonly found in Apple’s code. And the discovery also lends credence to rumors of an iPad Pro with Face ID, which would certainly be a logical next big step in Apple’s product roadmap.

According to both Espósito and developer Guilherme Rambo.

Though Apple has upgraded the iPad line with its higher-end Pro version, the tablet series continue to see little sales growth. With customers opting for higher-end PCs or sticking with smartphones with larger screens. Like the iPhone X, the tablet reportedly lacks a Home button, which is likely still having an LCD instead of OLED display due to supply, cost, and technological constraints.

If this report or evidence is anything to believe, then, there is a something near to launch. It’s unclear if the iPad Pro will have a notch for the TrueDepth system, as illustrated in the first mockup below, or if the device will have uniformly slim bezels on all four sides with sufficient room for the Face ID sensors.

In fact, Face ID is also expected to be found and featured on a second-generation 5.8-inch iPhone X, a larger 6.5-inch version dubbed iPhone X Plus, and a new, cheaper variant of a 6.1-inch model with an LCD, aluminum frame, and no 3D Touch.
