iPhone 6 Parts Appeared In Teaser For Next HTC Phone, HTC Explains

Fortunately, HTC has today started sending out emails to people teasing what appears to be the next smartphone., with its website also updated to show off the same teaser. As far as the teaser spotted, this one is an interesting reflection for a few reasons, not least the fact it makes little sense.

An image showing a number of smartphone internals laid out and text suggesting something else is happening on May 23rd atop it. It’s however not clear as anything new is coming. What’s so odd here, though, is the fact that the appeared parts used to be of non-HTC origin. In fact, some are very noticeably taken from an iPhone 6.

At this point, it’s fairly to note that HTC plans to announce its new flagship phone on May 23rd, but the way it’s going about it is odd, to say the least. Assuming that the parts would be at least from HTC’s phones, potentially its new and unannounced handset. Initially, with this discovery of some parts are Apple’s, though, it was suggested HTC had been caught in a bit of a lie.

Not certainly, according to HTC, which obviously claims this is all part of the plan. Confused? You will be, Just check out what the Taiwan company had to say to about the furor.

Update: HTC told it intentionally used parts from other smartphones to represent the “jumble” of parts that HTC competitors “inelegantly cram into their phones.”

“We’re glad people are studying our teaser so closely. The fact people have noticed parts from different phone models is exactly right – they represent the jumble of parts (specs) that our competitors inelegantly cram into their phones, while the space in the middle outlining HTC’s next phone represents ‘a phone that is more than the sum of its specs.’

To be clear, none of the parts illustrated in the teaser came from the phone we’re announcing May 23rd; people will have to tune in to htc.com that day to find out more…”

iPhone 6 components, via iFixit

The image in question features smartphone components overlaid with a date and given that HTC is teasing a new smartphone. It would be logical to assume these are HTC components, but those HTC’s image features iPhone 6 parts.

Why? There is no answer for the fact HTC is teasing its next-generation smartphone with components from an Apple device that’s four years old rather than the upcoming device or at least an HTC smartphone, but it’s an embarrassing mistake for the company to make. That’s mainly because it makes little sense. Apple certainly cannot be accused of cramming anything anywhere.

Quite what’s going on inside HTC’s PR department is unclear, but whatever they’re playing at, I’ll check back on May 23rd. Who knows what I’ll find! If not, HTC’s May 23 event will likely see the debut of the HTC U12, the successor to the HTC U11.
