It was generally thought that the Apple’s next Spring 2016 event would take place during the week commencing Monday, March 14, but it has now be clarified by a new report suggesting that the updates across three products categories, is tentatively planned for Tuesday, March 15. According to 9to5Mac, the unveil date could change over the next six weeks.
“As the scheduled event is still a month-and-a-half away, the date could conceivably still shift or turn into an online announcement. The media event would be Apple’s first since September, and much like the fall event, is planned to touch on three major product categories for the company.”
At the Apple media event, CEO Tim Cook and other executives are expected to introduce the new 4-inch iPhone 5se and iPad Air 3, alongside minor Apple Watch updates, including new bands. We’re still waiting for that official seal from Apple and looks like the date to pencil in.
Primary products in agenda for launch would likely to be the existence of Apple’s 4″ iPhone offering, or, the “iPhone 5se” as it’s currently being called. Many suggested that will see the Cupertino-based company reintroduce the 4-inch form factor and the device will be a budget offering akin to the likes of iPhone 5, but the information that leaks about the device could have a higher-end specs than initially expected.
The 4-inch device, would essentially be a replacement for the iPhone 5s, is expected to ship with an Apple A9/M9 chip, 2GB RAM, support for Live Photos feature, and integrated NFC for Apple Pay compatability. The hardware is unlikely to get any kind of 3D Touch functionality, but still have Touch ID for authentication purposes. Also rumored to have a 1624mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.2, VoLTE, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and 16GB and 64GB storage models.
First and foremost announcement of iPhone 5se is expected to be accompained by the iPad Air 3. Tablet from Apple, would mark the first upgrade to the 9.7-inch line since the iPad Air 2 was brought to market in October 2014.
The iPad Air 3 is indeed expected to ship with improved 4-speaker system, as Smart Connector that enables integration with additional accessories like the Smart Keyboard. Consumers in the market for a new iPad, but who really don’t want to part with iPad Pro money, can eventually expect to benefit from a number of features that were already brought by the 12.9-inch slate.
With a number of leaked drawings and renders of upcoming iPad Air 3 suggested that the 9.7-inch tablet could be the first iPad model to ship with a rear LED flash accompanying the camera module. The iPad Air 3 is said it will have a high-resolution 4K display and up to 4GB of RAM, on-board.
Rumors also suggested an “Apple Watch 2” could debut around March, but the wrist-wearable will likely only receive minor updates, including new watch bands and possibly a FaceTime camera setup. Accessories for the existing Apple Watch model including a Space Black Milanese Loop, as well as some software enhancements to the watchOS.
BuzzFeed‘s has confirmed March 15 as the actual date when Apple will hold its spring event to introduce a smaller iPhone, a new iPad, and new watch bands. Now we need to wait patiently until the official invites drop.
