Samsung has officially seems to have been moved the disastrous Galaxy Note 7 launch, now the latest reports surface speaking about the next smartphone, the Galaxy S8. It is a major upgrade over the predecessors, seem to be picking up speed, though, the latest comes from The Guardian, which repeats a number of rumors about the phone along with adding a few new ones as well.
Previously, a report also suggests that Samsung is prepping two versions of the rumored Galaxy S8, codenamed Dream and Dream 2. Apart that, this report further talks about the implementation of an “Infinity Display,”, which basically refers to an ultra slim bezel on the Galaxy S8 with a dual-edge screen similar to the S7Edge and a little space on top and bottom dedicated to non-display part.
Another report, which cites unnamed sources, claim the phone could go on sale or around April 21, a few days later than previous launch date reports that targeted April 18. With that said, Samsung is deemed to be replacing the fingerprint scanner on the back, rather, would be settle within the S8 display.
It was also confirmed the existence of the iris scanning biometric technology on the Galaxy S8. Launched with the Note 7, allowed users to unlock their devices by simply scanning their eyes. Now2 that, it seems that technology could be used to authenticate purchases, like the ones does with the fingerprint scanners.
Samsung has yet to officially confirm a launch date for its next-generation Galaxy flagship, we can only expect the device to be unveiled in the mid-to-late-April timeframe. Renders and display shell photo leaks shown off the Galaxy S8 will come in two sizes. Still, got no word on how large they will be; only that the phones will be between 5 to 6-inches, according to the report. Both versions will feature edge-to-edge screens with almost no bezel, too.
In terms of hardware details in this report: the phone will however keep the 3.5mm headphone jack, and as said above, the same Iris scanner. The rear camera on the S8 will supposedly be only an incremental upgrade from the S7’s camera department, which was and is being one of the best on the market since its launch.
In fact, we have something new and the report also claims that its expected to see a newer version of Samsung’s Gear VR headset and a new Gear 360 camera to launch alongside the Galaxy S8. Samsung might also launch new “DeX” accessories, such as dock, that could turn the phone into a Android desktop PC when the dock is also connected to a keyboard, mouse and monitor. Allegedly, the Bixby digital assistant has also seen the reports, believed the phone will come with new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 16nm processor, which means the Galaxy S8 may be the first to have it inside.
Wait! All of these reports have yet to be officially confirmed by Samsung, and it’s possible that these plans may change for the Galaxy S8 between now and release time. So, take this report with a pinch of salt and don’t sink your teeth.
