Will Nokia and Windows once again join the latest smartphone iteration party? HMD Global has confirmed it will be hosting an event on February 26 at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017), where the firm is expected to unveil new Android-powered Nokia device. Since the company has launched one mid-range smartphone, called Nokia 6 this year, as the 2017’s Nokia Android phone and the new leaks and rumors talking about another new Nokia device. Now that Nokia China’s official Weibo account has outed two big hints at the plans for this year.
The company that owns rights to the Nokia brand is HMD Global, has just dropped a hint that the company may soon reveal a new high-end flagship smartphone, which would be an Android phone that should be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC. Here’s are the details you would like to note.
The company added that this may take time which means Nokia’s Snapdragon 835 powered Android phone may come out late this year. One of the confirmations is that the Nokia Android flagship will indeed have Snapdragon 835 on top, reports NokiaPoweruser. Another big surprise is that it could launch a Nokia-branded device running Windows 10 Mobile OS.
Considering that HMD Global has this far only discussed about Android smartphones, but there’s still chances to see the launch of a new Nokia Windows phone anytime this year.
Previous reports said that a Snapdragon 835-powered Nokia P1 smartphone is the one that’s expected to offer premium from Nokia base. It is also rumored to start around $800 (almost Rs 54,500) and featuring a 5.3-inch display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection with either full-HD or QHD 2K resolution. With that said, the Nokia P1 is also rumored to have a 6GB of RAM memory and may launch at MWC 2017.
Recent leaks also revealed a massive 18.4-inch Nokia device with a 2K display. Shown up on GFXBench benchmarking site. The Android Nougat based tablet is listed featuring an 18.4-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) display, a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB inbuilt storage, a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 12-megapixel front camera, as well as 4G LTE (via a SIM card slot), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC connectivity options.
The first up to point at Nokia 8, another premium Android smartphone would be the Nokia P1. The Nokia 8 smartphone is speculated with SD835 and 6GB RAM, while the P1 has Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB of RAM. According to rumors, the Nokia P1 is said to be coming equipped with a 22.6-megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss-certification.
