Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has invited Apple to set up a manufacturing base in the country and in return to that offer, its CEO Tim Cook responded positively, accoding to the officials in San Jose, California.
This is what Ministry of external affairs spokesman Vikas Swarup told reporters, “The Prime Minister (in his meeting with Cook) said he would like Apple to start manufacturing in India. He mentioned the huge opportunities India offered.”
As we all know Foxconn, which is the largest Apple’s manufacturers unit has decided to evidently set up a plant in India, he noted that too. Cook on the other hand has reposnded positively, and we think India does fits into his long term plans. Apple CEO is in particular, interested in the whole App development economy, could very much important factor for nterpreneurship where individualk app developers can just become part of the app universe.
Meeting of Prime Minister Modi with Tim Cook held on for 15-minutes and according to Swarup’s @MEAlindia tweets, mentioned that the Apple company shares a unique bond with India as Steve Jobs had visited the country for inspiration. PM of India also has been mentioning that there is the public sector, there is the private sector and there is the personal sector.
As Swarup noted that, Personal sector has been talking about people who can be self-made enterpreneurs and Cook said by using the app development tools people can really become the part of this huge industry, like what Chine where in fact we created 1.5 million jobs. During the meeting, Cook said India has a very special place in the heart of every Apple employee for the simple reason. It was when Steve Jobs went to India for inspiration that inspired him to launch Apple.

The CEO also expressed his great desire to be a partner in Modi’s Digital India initiative, which Cook thought was a trensformative initiative, could be a real game changer in Indian constituency and economy, where Apple has been operating in India for nearly 20 years, which was in a statement to PTI. Said that, “we are fortunate to have many passionate customers along with a fast-growing developer community, and we’re investing to expand our operations throughout the country“. With over 4,000 places in India where customers can buy Apple products, and we indeed look forward to launching iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus there very soon, he noted.
So, soon we will be hearing about Apple’s manufacturing plant in India regarding ‘Make in India’ proposal made by Prime Minister Modi. Stay tuned.
