Rumors of when the new iPad Pro 2 announcement will become imminent which have been rife over the past few weeks, and the 10.5-inch iPad Pro today sees two new potential time frames of when Apple will unveil the additional size option. It definitely makes perfect sense for Apple to use a special event to announce its new campus and theater to the world. As we near the middle of March, expectations and speculations continue to grow surrounding Apple’s iPad lineup.
Although a spring Apple 2017 event is likely, though the exact timing is a mystery. Just yesterday, a new report surfaced claiming that Apple may introduce a trio-iPads within the couple of days. Today’s rumor comes from DigiTimes, which is reporting Apple has moved production of a 10.5-inch iPad from the May or June timescale to March.
Citing supply chain sources Taiwanese website claims that the iPad will be announced during an event set to take place in early April. The publication other than Taiwan-based believes an iPad event will take place between Monday, March 20 and Friday, March 24.
While DigiTimes however had not expected the new iPad to be ready to ship until June, though, the publication now reports that Apple has “moved ahead the production” which allows for a speedier release schedule. If this is indeed the case, then either of the two new potential launch windows could be possible.
The report goes on to say the new iPad is expected to be announced at an event in “early April,” using Apple’s new Apple Park headquarters. And the event would presumably be held at Steve Jobs Theater.
The rumor directly matches up with the already announced April opening for the spaceship-style campus, and what better way to show it than by hosting a special event?
Catch? If Apple decide to make any announcements at the new Steve Jobs Theater, which is not expected to be all ready to accept people until “later this year,” although Apple’s somewhat vague wording could potentially leave the door open for a surprise or two in the scheduling.
What’s unknown right now is if the event will focus solely on the 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2, or if refreshed 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models will also make an appearance. Currently, noting is clear on how all of the 10.5-inch iPad announcement rumors relate to likely updates to existing iPad lines.
The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is due for a refresh, and with stocks seemingly dwindling, the assumption has been taht a new device would debut alongside any other iPads. According to DigiTimes, the 10.5-inch tablet will target business and education users, two areas where the company will need to succeed if it really wants to get back to growing tablet sales.
Apple declined to comment on that.
This may still be the case, but with all eyes on what Apple reportedly has planned for all-new iPad models it will be interesting to see where the original, and largest iPad Pro goes from here. One thing we must admit is that there’s an awful lot of evidence to suggest new iPads are just around the corner.
