Samsung Launches Galaxy A5, Galaxy A7 (2017) Phones With IP68 Rating, Always-On Display And More

Two new Samsung A series smartphones have been launched “Galaxy A5” and the Galaxy A7 in India. Here are the details and everything you need to know about both smartphone specs, price and comparison.

The new Galaxy A5, and Galaxy A7 (2017) models brings together improvements in terms of battery, chipset and camera. Moreover, these smartphones finally sits under mid-range Android powered hardware list, and of course the successor to last year’s models. The smartphones will be available to purchase in Gold Sand and Black Sky colors when releases in India.

Priced at Rs 28,990 for the Galaxy A5 (2017) model followed by the Galaxy A7 (2017) at Rs 33,490 respectively. Shipments of these smartphones will being March 15.

Features and Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) has a slightly smaller 5.2-inch fullHD Super AMOLED display vs. the Galaxy A7 (2017) variant. Speaking about this year’s smartphone alterations, come with metal design and under-the-hood are powered by 1.9GHz octa-core Exynos 7880 processor, which has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, with a dedicated microSD card slot for up to 256GB expansion.

From the photography point of view, the Galaxy A5 gets a bump as compared to its predecessor. It now boasts 16-megapixel camera on both front and back with f/1.9 aperture. While the rear sensor is supported with a LED flsh and for selfies, the screen doubles up as a flash. When compared, the older A5 (2016) came with 13MP rear and 5MP front-facing shooter.

On the software front, this same smartphone runs Android Marshmallow out of the box, which may get 7.0 Nougat update over the air very soon. Connectivity option include 4G LTE, dual-SIM functionality, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type C, NFC, WiFi 802.11, and ANT+.

Now, the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) model in terms of display and battery differs, it sports a 5.7-inch fullHD Super AMOLED screen and using the same chipset found on A5 (2017) with an option for expandable storage.

The camera on the A7 (2017) also be the same as 16MP rear and front, but the Galaxy A7 (2017) is fueled with 3600mAh battery capacity with fast charging capabilities. It runs on Android 6.1.x Marshmallow and supports 4G LTE connectivity, dual SIM cards, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type C, NFC, and ANT+.

Note: Both the smartphones released today comes with most common features. the Galaxy A5/A7 (2017) models include the Always-on display, fingerprint sensor, Samsung Pay, Samsung Knox, and S-Voice to say some. It’s worth mentioning that the new Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 (2017) come with Samsung’s own contactless payment solution, Samsung Pay – not yet launched officially in Indian market.
