It’s now official, Samsung has launched the Galaxy Note7 phablet flagship 2016 smartphone in India, the company’s latest Note series has been entered into the market as the dual-SIM variant, featuring a hybrid SIM slot that can take a microSD card upto 256GB instead of a second SIM card. The Galaxy Note 7 India model will be available in the country from September 2nd, and comes in Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, and Black Onyx colors.
The Galaxy Note 7 has been priced at Rs. 59,900 and the Blue Coral color variant introduced in other regions won’t be made available in India. Pre-bookings start from August 22 and last till August 30, with the company classifying that units will be available in unlimited quantities in this period. Offer will last until August 30th, users can get the new Gear VR at a discounted price for Rs. 1,990. Announced that interested consumers can also avail the Reliance Jio Preview Offer, which comes with voice and LTE data benefits for 90 days, alongside can access to the Jio Digital Life content service as well.
The Galaxy Note 7 features an iris scanner on-board instead replaced with a fingerprint sensor. For the first time Samsung has introduced the inclusion as part of an improved S Pen stylus and dual edge 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Huge isn’t it? It also equipped with IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, similar to what the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were honoured with. This year’s Samsung phablet also packs a fingerprint scanner on the Home button, is compatible with the Samsung Pay mobile payment services.
It has a 3D glass and comes in metal design framing and event the S Pen also a waterproof one and to unlock Galaxy Note 7, Samsung added support for using eye recognition. The enhanced S Pen has a smaller 0.7mm tip and improved pressure-sensitive and a Screen off memo, Smart Select and new Air Command functions Magnify and Translate. Enable users to zoom in and out the screen or even convert languages with a simple hover of the S Pen.
The Note7’s software runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Samsung’s own UI skin on top. The Galaxy Note 7 in India is powered by a Samsung Exynos 8890 Octa-Core (2.3GHz Quad + 1.6GHz Quad) 64-bit, 14nm processor, paired with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 64GB (UFS 2.0) of internal storage.
Note: Some regions including the U.S. will receive a variant of Galaxy Note7 with Snapdragon 820 (two Kryo cores clocked at 2.15GHz and two Kyro cores clocked at 1.6GHz).
The Galaxy Note 7′ 12MP camera on the back uses Dual Pixel technology for better low-light photography, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), optical stabilization (OIS), an f/1.2 aperture, dual-LED flash, and Auto-HDR option. While the front-facing camera sensor found a 5MP f/1.7 aperture module.
The Note 7 packs a 3500mAh battery, which is said to deliver fast charging on both wired and wireless chargers, with the smartphone compatible with WPC and PMA wireless charging standards. Rest of the specifications includes, connectivity options as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, MST, and USB Type-C etc.
What’s important to put in your mind is that the Galaxy Note 7’s S Pen includes the ability to create GIF image animations from videos using the Smart Select feature. Security features, Samsung suggests the Galaxy Note 7’s Knox suite now supports biometric authentication from both the iris scanner and fingerprint scanner, while the company is also touting the new Secure Folder that files and the whole apps in a secure, separate location – allowing user to have two instances of the same app on the Note7.
