Samsung Galaxy S9 And S9+ Get FCC Certification, Confirms Multiple Versions

Samsung is said to announce the 2018 flagship Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones next month at MWC in Barcelona. Prior to that fact, a few weeks ago multiple versions of the Samsung’s Galaxy S9 have been spotted on the FCC’s website, a move that suggested we are getting closer to the phones’ launch. And today we have new FCC listings for Galaxy S9 versions to look at.

The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ model numbers SM-G960F and SM-G965F, relatively, were spotted at the FCC in the past. Now, we have found two other variations, the SM-G960U, and the SM-G965U, according to Federal Communications Commission listings. The phones will support all major LTE, GSM, CDMA and UMTS bands as well as manufactured in Vietnam, China, and Korea.

This FCC leak otherwise confirms multiple versions of the Galaxy S9, as expected, the certification documents do not reveal any details about the two devices, though. But they all show they’ve been filed with the FCC on November 17th.

The FCC certification approved models SM-G960W and SM-G96OUX as well. The first two (SM-G960U, SM-G965U) are mostly to be US versions of the Galaxy S9, while the others for Canada, Samsung will also need plenty of demo units for promo activities, which will get the fourth model number. The same goes with the SM-G965 monikers of the S9+.

A common practice with such FCC filings, including that Samsung asked the Commission to withhold from the public specific information, including photos, specs, and user manuals. Nevertheless, it’s not like the Samsung has any big Galaxy S9 secrets to protect. The phone appeared will look exactly similar to the Galaxy S8, save for camera and sensors arrangement on the back.

When it comes to specs and features, you can expect the latest mobile processors to power the Galaxy S9, with storage purportedly going all the way to 512GB for the Plus model. The biggest improvements concern the camera experience, with the Galaxy S9+ expected to be the one model to feature a dual-lens camera on the back.

As per the leaked retail box packaging, the new Samsung’s flagship will have SuperSpeed Dual Pixel 12MP camera with a variable aperture of f/1.5 that can take Super Slow-mo videos. Tipped, it will also come with Stereo Speakers by AKG and plenty of well-known features like IP68 certification, iris scanner and wireless charging and no OLED display.
