Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Xcover 4, a rugged smartphone meant for robust outdoor use. Before Samsung announced the Xcover 4 smartphone, it has surfaced on the FCC and as previously leaks shared quite a few details about this handset. Here’s everything you need to know.
The newly launched Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 is exactly what we expected, as the company also confirmed the device will be released in April. As its predecessor, the Galaxy Xcover 4 is a craggy smartphone, which is especially designed for hard environments and conditions.
The Galaxy Xcover 4 comes with both IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, and the US military standard MIL-STD 810G, so what this imply? While the IP68 certification means that you can submerge the Galaxy Xcover 4 under water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes, and that it is dust resistant, while the MIL-STD 810G standard is a much higher inclusion for ruggedness. This essentially means that you can use the rugged Xcover 4 in extremely high and low temperatures, while the phone can take in some solar radiation, salt, humidity, vibration, etc.
There are three physical buttons you’ll find below the Xcover 4’s display, overview (multitasking), home and back buttons, respectively. Now, we have to speak about its internal and outer hardware key features.
Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 Specifications
The company’s latest rugged smartphone feature a 4.99-inch HD (1280x720p) TFT display, which is powered by a 64-bit quad-core processor that runs at 1.4GHz SoC, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. Samsung however hasn’t confirmed that SoC as yet, but this is probably company’s very own Exynos 7570 chipset. A 13-megapixel shooter is placed on the back of the smartphone and you will have a 5-megapixel snapper on its front side. A 2,800mAh battery is also included on this phone and it’s not removable.
Software it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat – pre-installed on the Galaxy Xcover 4, and on top of it, you’ll be getting Samsung’s own UI. With that said, Samsung also mentioned that the Galaxy Xcover 4 will be released in Europe next month, and it will be priced at €259.
We really don’t have an idea on when Galaxy Xcover 4 comes into availability out of Europe and device’s pricing info. Stay tuned for more information.
