As Samsung has sent out invites for the launch event for its next-gen wearable device, should make an announcement of Gear S3 smartwatch. On August 31st at the IFA trade show (Wednesday), 6:00 PM CET (10:30 PM IST) in Berlin, Germany, Samsung’s invitation shows an abstracted round clock face with the caption “Talk about 3,” suggesting we’ll see a successor to the Gear 2 watch Samsung launched at IFA 2015 last year.
Last year Samsung introduced not the one Gear 2 smartwatch, but also announced Gear S2 3G and Gear S2 Classic wearables, and this year it seems to be the same form-factor launch, rumored to unveil Gear S3 Classic, the Gear S3 Frontier and the Gear S3 Explorer.
About the Gear S2, was by far the best smartwatch Samsung has ever made till date, featuring an understanded round design and a clever interface that employed a rotating bezel for navigation. Followed up the S2 with Rose Gold and Platinum versions, as well as a model with a 3G connectivity option, and later announced iPhone compatibility all the way back this year in January, but hasn’t materialized though.
The Explorer edition of Gear S3 is far expected to feature a crown, more buttons and changeable watch bands, also rumored to come equipped with GPS, barometer, altimeter, speedometer and several other inclusions.
