Sony Confirms Android 7.0 Nougat Update For Xperia X, Z5 Series And More [List]


Google’s latest Android 7.0 Nougat is official now. The update is currently rolling out to Nexus devices and Sony has become the first manufacturers to confirm the Android 7.0 update is headed to its select smartphones. HTC will be the first company to announce Android Nougat update for some of its devices and today, the Japanese electronics has taken the chance to pace.

Sony has come out with a list of devices that will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat, which will get new features and refined user interface. Now Sony Mobile has confirmed the range of smartphones that will get Android Nougat version 7.0 update, but it doesn’t mention the earlier Xperia Z2 or Xperia Z3 range, and it’s however not clear whether these devices are eligible to receive the update. Sony says that it has been effortlessly working on to bring the major upgrade to as many devices as possible, so we can also expect more devices added to the compatible list in the future.

Android 7.0 Nougat update will be available for Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia X, Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra and Xperia X Performance.

Unfortunately, Sony Mobile hasn’t revealed any exact time-frame for the release or when the update will be rolling out via over-the-Air (OTA). More details will be available as soon as it starts iterating. And the update roll out will vary from different carriers and countries.
