If you think the Sony Xperia P series might be old, but if a report out from China is to be believed, the Japanese company still has plans to revive it by launching the Xperia P2. Borrows the transparent strip of its 2012 predecessors and spices up the looks with super-thin bezels. Leaked diagram and specs are here and can be checked right after this jump.
Apparently, the specifications of the alleged Xperia P2 points to a 5.2-inch Triluminos IPS screen with 1080p resolution, basically the same screen as the Sony Xperia Z4. Compared side-by-side, the P2 looks tiny though – measures 137.3 x 67.2 x 10.9mm versus LG G2’s 138.5x 70.9 x 8.9mm. While the screen glass will be evident at the edges at a tickness of 0.8mm.
Although, the Sony Xperia P2 said to be thick, but the back is curved ranging from 8.9mm to 10.9mm. Highlight on this purported device would be the huge 4240mAh battery package, that carries more than other phablets and the Moto Maxx and Turbo.
Under the hood, as per the leak – Sony Xperia P2 is powered by a Snapdragon 810 chipset that may be slightly downclocked – the four big A57 cores are listed at 1.9GHz instead of the usual 2GHz. Paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage. The status of an expansion SD slot is unclear.
Camera department on the Xperia P2 flaunts an Exmor RS sensor of the same size (1/2.3″) but at lower resolution (12.1MP) meaning bigger pixels. Feature a Sony G OSS lens, which also called to be the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), which will be a wide-angle 25mm lens with f/2.0 aperture and integrated with a dual-LED flash below it in the diagram. The Camera sensor will also be compatible to record 2160p video. Still images ISO will range from 64 to 25,600 and 12-bit RAW.
Wait! It also houses a selfie-centric camera which is slated to boasts a 5.1MP/FHD shooter at 1080px. Finally, the transparent strip below the screen will probably be illuminated like on the original Xperia P, which was an attractive design element.
What do you guys think of the purported leak of the Xperia P2?
