Sony is expected to unveil up to five new Xperia smartphones this year at MWC 2017 event, scheduled in February. Newly leaked smartphone of what it said to be the Xperia XA (2017) model has surfaced on an YouTube video, suggesting that’s the prototype of the upcoming handset. The leaked video shows up the Xperia XA device bearing a model number G3121 and reveals some of its specifications, including its rear-facing 23-megapixel camera. Here’s everything we know so far about it.
The latest leak however coincides with the already speculated ones and rumors surrounding the purported Xperia XA (2017). In terms of design, it shows the slim form factor of the smartphone albeit having wider top and bottom bezels on the front. While the side bezels relatively remain very narrow and the physical power button, volume rockers and camera shutter are placed on the right side of the device while the left side covering with a SIM card slot.
It’s somewhat unclear if the model number G3121 will go same with the original smartphone introduced in the coming weeks, but the video that showing off its hardware key features may reveal some more specs of the smartphone, which it actually comes running Android Nougat with a security patch level dated January 5, 2017, suggesting the software update is fairly recent.
The 2017 Xperia XA camera prowess has also been showcased, there’s still a Manual, Auto and Video mode, which is by means, capable of video recording in full HD @30fps. Other camera options include HDR video, auto-capture (video), and object tracking and more.
The same smartphone has now been shown in matte black finish, which has become the new favorite color in the smartphones arena following the launch of Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. And the Sony’s Xperia XA (2017) model with black aesthetics also shown in a very smooth appearance. Sony has previously used the color for its Xperia XZ and other Xperia X series devices, launched last year.
The long-term considering rumors on what could be the successor to the Xperia XA is your thinking, then, the smartphone spotted here is expected to come with the support for USB Type-C connectivity but also retains the default 3.5mm headphone jack. Renders or press live images of the alleged smartphone were recently outed online. Based on those, the successor to 2016 Xperia XA is said to feature a 5-inch display with thinner bezels.
In fact, we will be going to see many changes in the 2017 model when compared to original Xperia XA with HD 720p display, MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage, expandable using up to 2TB microSD card and on photography department, it came with a 13MP rear and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera setup.
