Last month an invitation from HTC contained the date of January 12th, which was strange enough as the letter “C” from the HTC logo rotated 90 degrees to the left. That same turned it into the letter “U” now. Alleged with the code name HTC Ocean Note, is today is to be the HTC U Ultra, a 6-inch phablet. Explained the “U” stands for in the invite. Followed this word that the sequel to the HTC 10 could be the 5.2-inch HTC U Play, also purported to be unveiled on the same given date. Here’s everything we know thus far.
Specs for the pair were leaked on Weibo today. According to the post by a tipster named @Upleaks, we should expect the HTC U Ultra to grace with Gorilla Glass protected 6-inch display, with a 1440 x 2560 2K resolution screen. Under-the-hood on top of the line Snapdragon 835 chipset is said to be powering the phone with Octa-Core CPU coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. 4GB of RAM is also there alongside 64GB of internal storage. There’s still a dual-camera setup (24MP and 13MP) rear along with a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies and video chats. A package of 4000mAh battery with a fingerprint scanner on back also spotted.
A second screen seemingly appears near the selfie camera in front, we have already seen on LG V10 and LG V20. Display has notifications, weather updates, date and time and of course, the battery percentage. As per the leaked images, HTC U Ultra shows a metal body with 2.5D glass on the front and back of the hardware. Surfaced is the main camera, dual-LED flash and a laser auto-focus sensor. There is also a speaker grill at the bottom edge, a primary microphone and USB Type-C port and on top edge, its sports a secondary mic and SIM card slot.
If these are somewhat accurate then, the phone which appeared in live images will be available in white, black, gold and blue colors. Also the HTC U Ultra runs Android 7.0 Nougat as its main operating system. Tipped to sport the same 12.3MP Sony sensor came with the Google Pixel range.
For the HTC U Play, the same micro-blogging site listed rumored specs that adds 5.2-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. The MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 chipset is under-the-hood clocks at an octa-core processor, and the Mali-T860 MP2 GPU. 3GB of RAM is on board with a 32GB of storage. Both the rear and front-cameras weigh in at 16MP, and the 2500mAh battery is for power saving. This leaked model reportedly features a front-facing fingerprint scanner embedded in the Home button.
It’s strongly recommended to take these hardware key features and specs with multiple grains of salt. The SD835 isn’t expected to be powered any devices until the Samsung Galaxy S8 is released in April. The specs listed above for the HTC U Ultra would seem to invalidate though.
You have a chance to find photos that allegedly show the HTC U Ultra. The only problem here is that without a dual camera setup and fingerprint scanner on back, these photos do not match the rumored specs found in this story.
