Both Spotify and Hulu has today expanded their partnership in order to offer a bundle of two services to all customers for at just $12.99 per month. That’s $5 cheaper than paying for them separately. Makes sense!
Spotify is also reportedly said to be tweaking its free tier to become easier to use on mobile platforms, according to the new report. The changes could eventually give free mobile listeners more control over what’s playing on a playlist and give them access to playlists more quickly.
A Spotify bundle with Hulu combines the two subscriptions and cuts their aggregate price. Now, the Hulu deal, which is $5 monthly discount to what you would pay for both separately, combines a $9.99 Spotify Premium music-streaming subscription with Hulu’s tier that costs $7.99 and still has commercials. As an introductory offering or promotion, the first month will cost $10.99 and the next two months are $9.99.
Spotify and Hulu have announced an expansion of their previous students-only initiative that bundled both services together for the low monthly cost of $4.99. This bundle includes the ad-free Spotify Premium tier of the music streaming service and of course, the Hulu With Limited Commercials plan. That price gets you Spotify Premium and traditional, video-on-demand Hulu (with ads).
Initially, this deal is only available to currently Spotify Premium customers, but the companies say everyone will be able to sign up for it sometime this summer. You, all Spotify and Hulu subscriber in the United States will get a chance to lock into the same bundle through a single $12.99/month subscription price.
The companies also noted that existing Spotify Premium subscribers will have early access to the offer. In fact, the companies have offered a similar package to college students starting last year, already. So if you’re lucky enough to be racking up insurmountable debt at a US college or University, you can pay even less for Spotify and Hulu together – the student deal offers both for $4.99 a month. Great!
“Based on the outstanding performance of the Spotify and Hulu student package, it’s clear that consumers love to combine their music and television experiences together,” said Tim Connolly, SVP, Head of Distribution and Partnerships at Hulu. “Hulu and Spotify are brands that are defining how fans connect with entertainment in the future, and we are excited to expand our partnership to bring this combined package to all existing and new Spotify Premium subscribers.”
Existing Spotify Premium customer, additionally, can do a three-month trial of Hulu for an extra $0.99 a month before deciding if they want to make a full switch to the $12.99 plan. Eligible Spotify Premium subscribers will be able to upgrade their current plan to the new combo plan through an introductory offer, on top of their Spotify subscription. But there’s a catch then, the trial is only available to either brand new Hulu subscribers or those who canceled at least 12 months ago. So, if your service went inactive anytime in the last year, you’ve gotta jump right to the $12.99 subscription.

Head over to Spotify’s FAQ page for more info on the plan, which also states that it will not be possible to upgrade to the Hulu With No Commercials or Live TV plans, “nor to any Hulu Premium Add-ons.”
