In India, Vivo today launched the Vivo V5s selfie-focused smartphone, priced at Rs. 18,990. The new Vivo smartphone will be available for pre-order starting Thursday itself, April 27. Officially, it will go on sale on May 6 – comes in Matte Black color, and the second exclusive color of Crown Gold will release on May 20.

After launching a dual-selfie camera totting V5 Plus, Vivo is once again back with another selfie-centric hardware called the V5s. It is the fourth smartphone in the V5 series released into the Indian market.
The Vivo V5s is priced and the USP of the smartphone is the 20-megapixel front-facing camera setup. Pre-booking of the V5s starts today with the first flash sale starting on 6th May 2017. Buyers of the V5s also get two months of Saavn subscription for free on purchase.
One of the best talking point of Vivo’s smartphones from the V5 series would be its front-facing camera capabilities, and the latest, V5s is no exception. It boasts a 20MP front camera with Vivo’s signature Moonlight flash, Facebeauty 3.0, and Group Selfie mode. The V5s smartphone also packs a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF support and LED flash, the camera senor on the back of V5s is capable of recording 1080p videos also includes a range of filters and modes. At the given cost of Rs. 18990, the new Vivo smartphone competes with the likes of smartphones in sub-Rs 20,000 segment, which alternatively comes with selfie-centric capabilities including the recently launched Gionee A1 and OOPO F1s.

In terms of features, Vivo V5s blasts similar hardware keys as its predecessor – V5, so what you get is as a new change will be the unibody design with the new U-type atenna design architecture at the top and bottom of V5s. The V5s Battery package is of 3000mAh capacity unit. On the software front, it runs on Androd 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based FunTouch 3.0 OS includes a feature called ‘App Cloning’ which indeed allows users to operate two different WhatsApp accounts on same device. Connectivity options include a dual SIM slot, WiFi, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, and Hi-Fi AK4376 support.

When compared the Vivo V5 features and Vivo V5s specs, the V5 features a 5.5-inch 720 pixels display, MediaTek MT6750 chipset, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage and a SD card support. For photography, the V5 packs a 20-megapixel front camera with softlight flash and a 13-megapixel rear camera. Packing a 3,000mAh battery.
The only changes you will find on the Vivo V5s are the 64 gigs of memory, front-facing camera’s Moonlight Glow flash and that’s all. Other competitor to look at is, Gionee A1. Priced at Rs 19,999, there are handful of features on a newer Android 7.0 Nougat with Amigo 4.0 UI layered above. The Gionee A1 gets a full HD 1080p display, it packs a slightly larger 4010mAh battery and the Oppo F1s, on the other hand, packs similar specs as the Vivo V5s, but costs slightly lesser at Rs 17,900.
