Vodafone India, the country’s second largest telecom operator has sent out invites for the launch of 4G services in the country on Tuesday. First and foremost regions to get LTE network is in Kerala, where the operator has its plans to announce a “new strategic national initiative to enhance mobile internet experience” at an event in Kochi, Kerala on December 8th. Vodafone has published the poster on its Facebook India pag, which reads, “Get ready for an international 4G experience,” and followed by mentioning, “it’s here finally and it’s going to be awesome!” Looking at the teaser we can clearly project that Vodafone’s aggessive strtegy to introduce its 4G network in India.

Taking the cue from Idea Cellular’s 4G launch teaser, Vodafone India has also pushed its 4G launch teaser that hints at the approaching service. The company had successfully acquired 4G LTE spectrum in these 5 circles in February 2014 auctions. It will offer 4G services using spectrum in the 1800Mhz band in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Kerala and Karnataka.

The telecom operator already tipped that it will launch 4G services in India by the end of this calendar year, and recently announced that itwill roll out its services in Kerala, which includes Kochi, Trivandrum and Kozhikode – first wave to roll out with LTE, and launched across these circles in a phased manner.

Not only Kerala, but Vodafone has also confirmed that Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Kochi circles will get the first 4G. In Kerala, Vodafone has partnered with the leading global technology infrastructure service providers for the LTE network roll out, which is said that it has invested over Rs. 350 crores in Kerala towards its network upgradation in the first six months of the current financial year.

Telecom operators are competing to launch their 4G network ahead of Reliance JIO’s impending 4G launch, which is already available in a vast number of regions, which apparently comes up as a big challenge to telecom giants such as Vodafone and Airt. To prevent its customer base from switching, Idea has begun taking registrations for its 4G services in India. Idea’s 4G network will be available in 126 cities, spread across 8 circles.

Being a strong telecom market player, Vodafone is planning to launch 4G network in five circles as of now, where the company is aiming at providing better quality service and that is the reason, why its first base of users will be limited to just these circls that are key to its data revenues and will continue to expand own 3G coverage to 16 circles across the country. It has also deployed FDD LTE network in the selected circles to better offer Indoor signals.

The Indai’s No. 2 carrier, Vodafone is currently in talks with Swedish gear maker Ericsson and Finnish Nokia Networks for equipment supply deals in the other three circles, where it has 4G bandwidth, ET reported recently. The compnya has already selected Huawei for supply of base stations and other equipment for 4G networks in Karnataka and Kerala circles.

Stay tuned on December 8, Vodafone India will switch on the button for the launch of its own 4G LTE services available in Kerala. Vodafone India to remind you has a base of 188.2 million customers inthe country.
