Finally the next-generation Xiaomi Mi flagship gets a release date timeframe. Now that it has been confirmed by one of the co-founders of the Chinese company that they are willing to launch Mi5 smartphone just after Chinese New Year on February 8.
The confirmation of Mi5 launch date was actually revealed by a post on Weibo, the China’s popular social networking website. Co-founder and VP of Xiaomi, Liwan Jiang’s post states that the smartphone will be coming with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 integration and also confirmed that the device already entered into mass production and will get anough stock at the time of its unveil.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 has been a long rumored flagship device, leaked various times in a variety of ways and the renders and short videos has also been uploaded on the Web. Rumored specs also suggests that it’s equipped with a fingerprint sensor and a new home button also shows up in press renders.
As per the reports, the smartphone will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with its own MIUI 7 custom ROM skin on top. Camera front, it gets a 16MP rear sensor with a dual-tone LED flash and an 8-megapixel selfie-centric shooter or 13MP front-facing cam.
With 3GB of RAM, the Xiaomi Mi5 32GB model will cost 1999 Yuan (around $308) and the Mi5 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage will be priced at 2299 Yuan (US$354 approx.).
