As promised, the ZTE Nubia Z9 is officially here and the handset was unveiled today in Beijing that looks identical to what expected for. More details on the next nubia Z series flagship can be grabbed right after this fold. Surrounded by a very thin reflective bezel, the Nubia Z9 features a 1080p – 5.2-inch 2.5D OGS Full HD CGS (Continuous Grain Silicon) display, which creates the illusion of an edge-to-edge screen. Bezel in question only 0.8mm and uses intelligent optics to reflect the screen image. When compared to what we expected to see an upcoming Oppo handset, Nubia Z9 is a true ambassador of the new technology and visual style.
With a bezel-less design, the Nubia Z9 is more than just eye-candy. ZTE has wrapped off the technology one step further and has created a whole new touch-based interactive gesture system for the frame. Called FIT, which seamlessly allows for different user gestures. The animations (GIFs) shows up some of them, like squeezing the phone twice to take a screenshot, adjusting brightness and activating the camera. How developers manage to leverage the new input controls also can be checked below.
The ZTE Nubia Z9 measures 147.38 x 68.34 x 8.94mm, with a flat back and no protruding camera. Specs sheet goes with an impressive hardware key inclusions. Packs a Snapdragon 810 SOC under the hood, and paired with a 4 gigs of RAM, there are actually three versions of the device.
First model has 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in memory. Second and third are the Nubia Z9 Elite and Exclusive versions, this is bumped up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage respectively. Powered by an Octa-Core S810 chipset (4× 2GHz A57+ 4×1.5GHz A53) with 600 MHz Adreno 430 GPU.
The Nubia Z9 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Nubia UI 3.0 skin on top, comes with a dual SIM offering (Nano). Camera setup consists of a 16MP main shooter with Sony IMX234 Exmor RS sensor, f/2.0 aperture and 6P lenses, optical stabilization. Front facing shooter is somewhat busy with an 8MP Sony IMX179 Exmor R BSI sensor, 80-degree wide viewing angle.
Connectivity options on the Nubia Z9 supports 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), GPS, MHL 3.0, USB OTG. The phone is also equipped with an impressive AKM4961 Hi-Fi processor and spouts Doubly 7.1 surround.
Notably, the latest version of Nubia UI 3.0 also promises rich camera features, like NeoVision 5.1 – meant to ensure rich image quality with a package of 2900 mAh battery.
Most impressive function integrated on the Nubia Z9 would be the Tio (Three in one) fingerprint recognition technology, and will be included in the higher-end Exclusive edition of the handset only, that unlocks the smartphone with just a simple touch, which it should incorporate sensors on both the power key and volume rockers.
Pre-orders of all three version of the ZTE Nubia Z9 have already started in China. The ZTE nubia Z9 Classic Edition with 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM is priced at 3499 Yuan (US$ 564 / Rs. 35850 approx). Elite Edition with 4GB RAM, 64GB of onboard storage with fingerprint sensor costs 4499 Yuan (US$ 725 / Rs. 46064 approx), which will be available in China on May 21.
Registrations for ZTE Nubia Z9 models can be done starting today in China. No word on when these three variants go on sale globally is unknown at this far moment. Stay tuned.
