Nokia 5 And Nokia 6 To Receive Android 8.0 Oreo Beta Builds ‘Soon’

HMD Global’s Nokia 8 has received the latest Android 8.0 Oreo experience recently, which is now said to be set to bring the same, but beta builds for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6.

The company’s Juho Savikas announced the new development following the arrival of the new update for Nokia 8. Literally, the arrival of the new Oreo beta builds suggests that both the budget-friendly Nokia smartphones would receive their stable Android 8.0 updates soon as well.

The Cheif Product Officer of HMD Global has confirmed the release of Android Oreo beta preview in response to a user query on Twitter. “Yes, Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 next. Just reviewed today, we will open Beta Labs for both models soon.”

In October, the released Android Oreo beta testing builds for Nokia 8 helped the company successfully release it final build just late last week. The Finnish company seems to be following the similar time frame for the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 in order to bring the newest Android version to both the affordable Nokia brands in the month after releasing the pre-release seeds.

Mark Trundle, HMD Global’s General Manager for Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia regions, had suggested the arrival of the Android Oreo update for all the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 for the year-end in a recent media interview. Sarvikas also mentioned the release of Android Oreo beta testing builds in a tweet last month. An Android P update for all HMD Global Nokia Android smartphones has been promised, though.

If this happens on time, the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 will be getting good new features of the Android Oreo update, such as Picture-to-Picture (PIP) mode, Notification Dots, Smart Text selection, and Google Play Protect integration, and much more. Before the final, these smartphones are also expected to receive Android security update for November 2017. Stay tuned for more.
