Nokia Confirms An Early Launch Of HERE Maps For iOS In 2015

Talking about the Nokia’s HERE Maps app landing on iOS early next year. According to the Finnish company’s blog post that also initiated the official launch of its Android version of HERE maps, which will apparently enter a crowded field that includes Apple Maps, Google Maps, and titles from some established navigation companies such as Garmin and TomTom.


HERE originally launched in 2012 on iTunes App Store, but was unexpectedly removed from the Apple Store in late 2013 due to incompatibilities with iOS 7. HERE Maps app for Android beta trail was a success and in a discussion, Nokia says it decides to bring the app to Apple’s mobile platform in the result of heightened interest in an iOS version.

Following the positive reviews of HERE for Android, a lot of people have expressed their interest in an iOS version of our app. We really appreciate this interest and demand. Our iOS app development team is working hard on this and we plan to officially launch HERE for iOS in early 2015.

New report surfaced from The Wall Street Journal suggesting that Nokia was in the final stages of development of a new version of Here maps of iOS app with a launch likely expected before the end of 2014. But the schedule has apparently been pushed back somewhat.

Currently, details regarding the HERE iOS version of Maps app are sparse, but nevertheless is expected to be available free and offer offline navigation and searching. Stay tuned!
