Although Microsoft has revealed the highest-end model of its Surface Book at this year’s Windows 10 for devices event, but this one is pricey compared with your average Windows 10 laptop. Added Microsoft Surface Book lineup on Friday, the new eddition is outfitted with an Core i7 chipset, 16GB of RAM memory and 1 terabyte of internal storage.

This top-line Microsoft Surface Book will cost you a hefty $3199, which is $500 more than the same model with 500GB of onboard storage. The Surface Book features a 13.5 inch display that has a resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels. A laptop that can transform into a tablet via a detachable keyboard, is Microsoft’s latest attempt to shake up the computer market in light of weak sales.

Fair to say that Microsoft’s goal is not just to generate revenue from the Surface Book, but to challenge other PC venors to make a laptop that can tap into the features of Windows 10 and potentially win over consumers. The device however offers premium features, but it to be seen whether its premium price-tag turn off buyers looking for a new Windows machine.

The Microsoft Surface Book comes in six different varieties, while for the high-end model may still shell out $1499 for the Intel Core i5 edition with 512GB of storage and 8GB of memory. Power users who like to outfit their devices with lots of RAM and built-in storage may find the cheapest edition too modest of their needs and most expensive model.

The front camera on the Microsoft Surface Book is a 5 megapixel version and the rear camera on the device comes with 8 megapixels. Based on preorders, the Surface Book appears to be doing well, but the shipping dates show a wait time of five weeks to six weeks for three of the models and seven to eight for two of the models.

The new 1TB Microsoft Surface Book won’t be shipping until January 22, 2016. You can preorder the Surface Book either through Microsoft’s website or at a Microsoft retail store. The new lineup officially launches on Oct. 26, and the company’s spokesmen cautioned that it will have limited stock of the Surface Book in store on launch day.
