NVIDIA Shield Media Tablet With Tegra K1 Launched For USD $199

You can now purchase NVIDIA’s newly launched Shield Tablet K1 – a slightly tweaked version of  the original Shield Tablet released in July of 2014. Details go with an excellent full HD screen and runs on stock version of Android.

The NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1 has also dropped its extremely competive £149.99 (€199/$199). Best Android tablet is here, called Shield K1 from NVIDIA – for those who really want a media center on their hands-on.

Specs-wise, the new Shield Tablet K1 features an 8-inch multi-touch 1920 x 1200 pixels IPS display. The display is sharp enough at 283 PPI, has great viewing angles, and competitive colour reproduction and black levels. The new Shield sports the exact same chipset as the old one, Nvidia’s Tegra K1. With 192-core Kepler-based GPU the K1 is clocked at 2.2GHz Cortex-A15 CPU.

The tablet K1 has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card and as said comes running on Lollipop version of mobile OS and can be upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The NVIDIA K1 has a 5MP rear camera along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. It has a 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, front-facing stereo speakers and dual bass reflex port. It is 9.2 mm thick and weighs 390 grams. There is no LTE variant this time.

The SHIELD K1 comes with 802.11 b/g/n/ac Dual Band 2×2 MIMO (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS/GLONASS and Mini-HDMI output as connectivity options.

The NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1 is currently available in USA, Canada and select European countries. Purchase it from shield.nvidia.com, Amazon, Newegg and BestBuy.  Alternatively, there are optional accessories like the SHIELD controller for $59.99, SHIELD tablet K1 cover for $39.99, SHIELD DirectStylus 2 for $19.99 and SHIELD world charger (also included in retail box) for $29.99.
