The OnePlus 6 Will Feature Snapdragon 845 and Up To 256GB Storage, Confirms CEO

In a forum post which has been titled “Our Pursuit of Burdenless Speed,” OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed some key specs for the company’s upcoming flagship phone. He also tipped that the OnePlus 6 owners will be able to hide the notch on top. Here’s what you all need to know about it.

OnePlus 6, the company’s latest and highly-anticipated flagship smartphone, rumored to be a copycat of Apple’s iPhone X-style 3D Notch, will feature a Snapdragon 845 processor, as you don’t expect from a high-end Android phone in 2018, having up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

These specs have already been predicted before, and wouldn’t be too surprising in any case. But the options for more memory suggest that the typically value-minded OnePlus is likely to charge more than ever for at least some SKUs of the 6, considering the current state of flash pricing and that the now available OnePlus 5T only went up to 128GB.

There’s still time to listen to an announcement of the OnePlus 6, but between Lau’s suggestion and the recent exclusive reveal of the phone’s display notch, you can expect more information to come out before the official launch.

The OnePlus CEO has also taken to offer fans some reassurance too, about the upcoming OnePlus 6 and its controversial notched display. Customers backlash leads to a change in software.

In response to a loud and passionate negative reaction, Lau says that OnePlus will now offer the option to black out the sides of the screen around the notch and thereby hide it, much as Huawei has done with the P20?

Where the similar element on Huawei P20 is concerned, users never felt the need to hide its notch, but it’s good to have the option for people suffering from notch allergies.

So, it’s said that the OnePlus 6 will get the notch-hiding tweak in a software update after release. And, Lau’s again indicates the imminent arrival of his company’s next flagship phone. OnePlus has traditionally launched its phones in June every year, but on the strength of its pre-launch notch discussions, we can probably expect the OnePlus 6 much sooner than later.
