Samsung Confirms These Galaxy Devices To Get Android 7.0 Nougat Update OnTime

Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are the couple that rolled out and received Android 7.0 Nougat update recently, and the company is obviously one of the world’s largest, successful manufacturer of Android-powered smartphones, is able to deliver immediate on timely Android updates to its devices when a new major version is announced. And it did another time, by a confirmation of a list of devices that are eligible to get Android Nougat update in the coming days. Here are the details.


The South Korean company is simply following the fragmentation of the Android platform that even Samsung has to jump through multiple hoops in order to push regular updates out. Android Nougat was announced months ago, and the latest version 7.1.1 rolled out for Pixel and Nexus range, but it’s only now that Samsung has gotten around to actually publishing which of its smartphones will benefit from the update.

The company has not given any specific timeline for the release of the update, though, but will be released within the first half of this year. It doesn’t take a rocket science to be able to guess which two devices will be amongst the first to get benefited from the Nougat update. As Samsung will instantly be looking to take care of its flagship customers by bringing Android Nougat to the S7 and S7 Edge smartphones.

Samsung is in the process of rolling out Android Nougat to the already mentioned devices as well speak, primarily in the European region, but we know its out in the wild now. Beyond those two pieces of hardware, Samsung will also be looking to push out Nougat to a variety of other devices,

The company promising that the supported devices, or at least an unspecified few of them, will get Nougat “within the period of the first half the year” 2017.

The list only really covers a relatively small portion of Samsung’s available lineup, both smartphone and tablet. It includes not only a couple of flagships top-end devices, like the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, but also some of the lower-level devices that will undoubtedly appease those who simply don’t always make the move to the most expensive range of devices in the genres.

For those device owners listed above, Android Nougat bringing functionality like Google’s official implementation of split-screen mode, faster app switching, and an overhauled notifications experience including notifications that are bundled together and also conform to quick reply. Notifications are now grouped to display information more clearly and also support Direct Reply.
