Gear SDK Reveals Samsung Orbis Design And Tizen UI Specs For The First Time [Images]

It was already speculated that Samsung is gearing up to introduce the world with its next smartwatch, could unveil the Gear A / Orbis Tizen wearable in early September this year. That too alleged that the South Korean giant has been working on a smartwatch with a circular display for quite a while now. Release date time frame predicted at the same as done with Galaxy Note 5. More details on Samsung Orbis Tizen and Gear A specs can be grabbed right after this drive.

Expected to be called Samsung Orbis, or maybe Samsung Gear A? Last month, the company all but confirmed the existense of a smartwatch with a circular screen by teasing a new Gear SDK (Software Development Kit). Now, the SDK is available to download – which gives us its first Tizen-based round UI glimpse that Samsung is reportedly working on.

It’s said that Samsung has already released next-generation Gear smartwatch SDK to developers, which is bundled with comprehensive documentation, sample apps, and explanation about the upcoming Gear smartwatch along with images that indeed helps developers in understanding the SDK better. Found that the device, including its possible design and hardware specifications resides.

The SDK in question also reveals some of the features that the Gear A / Orbis will almost certainly offer, including a rotating bezel that may have a similar functionality as Apple Watch’s digital crown. Like, you can use the rotating bezel to zoom in and out of photos, navigate between screens, or adjust the volume.

The Next Gear smartwatch features a round design with a rotating bezel around the display. Apparently, the Gear A / Orbis has a 1.65-inch circular display with 360 x 360 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 305 ppi, which is higher than any other smartwatch from Samsung till date. Sensors equipped, including accelerometer, gyrosensor, heart-rate monitor, pressure sensor, and magnetic sensor.

Connectivity options include GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular connectivity (only 2G, though). The device is currently codenamed as Project Orbis internally, but it might be released as the Gear A.

As the circular Samsung smartwatch also got a rotating bezel which can be used to scroll through lists or adjust settings, or it can also be used to zoom in and out of images as well. Handy as pinch to zoom doesn’t work well on such small displays, but you can use the screen to move the photo around.

This isn’t it, lot more to come out as however, it’s Samsung’s next Project Orbis. Compete with Apple Watch and others from LG, Huawei, Alcatel, Samsung is really hard at work producing a powerful and ultimate smartwatch.

As a whole, the Samsung Gear A / Orbis, or whatever its final name will be, might become one of Samsung’s most interesting devices of 2015. For more information and Orbis design and Tizen UI based specifications, please make your time to visit this link here.
