The world of Snapchat is an interesting one these days and we now have a new iOS update that will allow users the opportunity to pick up a paid for “Create Your Own Lens” studio that will allow them to build and then edit their own selfie Lenses for use at parties and major events.

Snapchat’s new lens tool is available from desktop browsers or through the Snapchat app on iOS. Users can easily choose them from 150 different lens templates at launch, which can also be personalized with text. Lenses are AR masks that overlay your face with details like puppy ears, flower crowns, and all important vomiting rainbow. Thus, those lenses don’t come in free rather start from $9.99 and go up depending on the size of the location you’ve chosen (covering anywhere from 20,000 to 5 million square feet), duration of the lens, and other factors.

Available today as a free update to the iOS app. Snapchat announced its first ever live television event coverage, aimed squarely at the highlights shared during the 2018 Winter Games. That announcement and the new iOS update are surely linked.

As well as on the web, a new section of Snapchat allows users to create their own selfie Lenses and Filters. With controls also in place to allow them to decide who else can use them in their own Snapchat apps based on a designated location. The offering is similar to Snapchat’s custom geofilters, which are one-off decorative borders that users can select for their snaps when situated at a pre-defined location.

As part of the same update, it is this feature that specifically lends itself to use at parties or other social gatherings and events, such as Olympics. It includes the Android version of the app, Snapchat users will now also see new caption styles and a new interface.

Users of Snapchat for iPhone, Android, and the web will now have access to Brush, Italic, Glow, Gradient, Rainbow, Fancy, Old English, and more when adding captions, adding to the existing options for bars of, and resizable text.

iOS Snapchat users. To create a custom face lens in the app, tap on Settings, then select Filters and Lenses. Then, choose from one of the pre-made ace lens templates.
