According to latest reports, Qualcomm is already developing its next-gen Snapdragon 845 SoC, which is said to be built on 7nm process. Also rumored that OnePlus is going to offer the same SD845 processor on its upcoming next-gen OnePlus 5. Nothing is official as yet, but we today received some details regarding Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset – that is in development. Here’s something you really want to know about.
Although Snapdragon 835 remains to be the newest SoC for now, as Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, alongside LG G6 and other Android powered smartphones are using it recently, but only on a minimal hardware basis, also includes the newly launched Xiaomi Mi 6. Today we are going into detailing what actually the 7nm process based Snapdragon 845 has internally.
The report claims that TSMC began development of the 7nm process back in April and is now in a trail period (production stage). With that said, looking to confirm that Snapdragon 845’s development is already going on with an expected arrival of time of early 2018. This claim coincides with the speculation of the Samsung’s Galaxy S9 will debut with Snapdragon 845 a bit early.
Interestingly, Qualcomm is not only the one who make use of 7nm process on their respective SoCs, which is of course result in significantly faster chips, with the performance improvements expected to be in the region of 25 to 35-percent, compared to the current 10nm process found inside Snapdragon 835. In addition, it is acknowledged that the chips will be able to house this performance improvements in a smaller frame, resulting in a knock-on effect for the size of smartphones that use SoC built on the process.
For now, it’s said that the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC is already in development and it aiming for a Galaxy S9 launch. What’s surprising thing to note is that, the latest info does look to reconfirm those points as well as clarify that the process in use will be a 7nm production. Currently, it now appears to suggest that the next-gen processor is coming, but also necessarily likely that it will be marketed as the Snapdgraon 845.
