Those iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices owners affected by the iOS 11.3 third-party screen error, Apple has today released a new software update to fix all of that kind. iOS 11.3.1 is likely a bug fix update to the iOS 11.3 software update released last month.
Apple has made available for download iOS 11.3.1 to the general public as an over-the-air update right now, or as an IPSW download for a manual install. iOS 11.3.1 is considered as yet another minor update as it contains smaller bug fixes rather than new features, Apple looking to continually update and bolster its iOS offering on compatible devices.
Apple currently shows the iOS 11.3.1 release on its developer portal with build version 15E302. The company has already titled its hat as far as the progression of its mobile platform is concerned. With iOS 11.3 release into the public domain last month, brought in a number of important fixes, improvements, and feature additions.
Tim Cook’s Cupertino-based firm is not going to rest on its laurels and be content with that particular release. Following it, Apple then pushed out iOS 11.4 in a pre-release format enabling developers to test out exactly what’s on the table, which likely due out in late May or early June, which includes AirPlay 2 and Messages on iCloud.
Now, Apple has also pushed out iOS 11.3.1, which, as the version number suggests, is a relatively minor bug release designed to ensure that the experience offered to users is a cutting-edge and streamlined as it possibly can be at this stage.
Rather than bringing new features or functionality, iOS 11.3.1 is about fixing bugs and niggles which have been found since iOS 11.3 was out into the public domain.
Changelog of iOS 11.3.1 is as follows:
iOS 11.3.1 improves the security of your iPhone or iPad and addresses an issue where touch input was unresponsive on some iPhone 8 devices because they were serviced with non-genuine replacement displays.
Note: Non-genuine replacement displays may have compromised visual quality and may fail to work correctly. Apple-certified screen repairs are performed by trusted experts who use genuine Apple parts. See support.apple.com for more information.
Otherwise, iOS 11.3.1 includes a fix for display issues experienced on iPhone 8 with third-party repairs and security improvements for all iPhones and iPads. The release of iOS 11.3.1 doesn’t detract from the importance of iOS 11.4, which brings with it features like the exposure of the new ClassKit framework and other notable improvements. All-in-all, it’s been a great period of activity as far as Apple, iOS, and the global consumer-base is concerned.
If you are the owner of a compatible 64-bit iPhone or iPad then you can grab the latest OTA update right now from Settings > General > Software Update. Alternatively, if you wish a fresh installation using the IPSW and iTunes, then you can grab the download right here.
