Apple released iOS 11.4 for HomePod speaker bringing in the much wanted AirPlay 2 as well as widely anticipated stereo pairing functionality to its smart speaker. Coming to availability in new markets, the company has today announced that of HomePod availability in three new markets next month.
It’s download and update time once again for 64-bit iPhone and iPad owners. Apple has finally made available of iOS 11.4 to general public, which has released to download and consume right now as an over-the-air download, or as an installable IPSW for those who prefer a fresh manual installation.
The newly released iOS 11.4 availability again shows an extreme commitment to continually updating and refreshing the iOS platform. It’s immediately evident when you take into consideration just how far iOS 11 has progressed since its original launch in September 2017.
This release of iOS 11.4 software means that compatible 64-bit devices in Apple’s iPhone and iPad range are instantly going to benefit from an array of improvements and enhancements. All of which are being introduced in a timely manner prior to iOS 12 being unveiled during next month’s WWDC.
The attempted Apple audio revolution will continue its pursuit of global domination next month as Apple just announced that its Siri-powered HomePod device will be available first in Canada, France, and Germany next month on June 18. Audiophiles and Apple fans in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia have also been able to join the treat and powerful audio offered by HomePod since February 9th of this year.
Now, after enjoying a decent amount of launch success, it seems that it’s better time to expand the availability of HomePod into additional markets. According to Apple’s official press release, the “breakthrough” wireless speaker “arrives in Canada, France and Germany Starting June 18 and will come equipped with an array of new capabilities thanks to the release of iOS 11.4.”
Once the hardware (HomePod) is available in the new territories, consumers will be able to experience what Apple is calling an even more “immersive listening excitement” throughout the whole home, thanks to the ability to pair HomePods together to form a stereo experience taking advantage of AirPlay 2 capabilities for multi-room audio.
HomePod, the breakthrough wireless speaker from Apple, now delivers an even more immersive listening experience throughout the home with support for HomePod stereo pairs and a new multi-room audio system in iOS 11.4. This free software update introduces the most advanced, easy to use, wireless multi-room audio system using AirPlay 2 to play music in any room from any room, move music from one room to another or play the same song everywhere using an iOS device, HomePod, Apple TV or by asking Siri.
No official pricing has been announced by Apple at present for the hardware, but with the official press release simply stating the new HomePod features unearthed with iOS 11.4 as well as the confirmation that the hardware will be available in the other aforementioned countries starting June 18.
The release of iOS 11.4 firmware is somewhat like the follow-up to the company’s earlier release of iOS 11.3, which otherwise, brought plenty new features and improvements with it. While iOS 11.4 does bring in some new inclusions, specifically focused on stability and sets the ground for what we imagine will be a plethora of stability announcements relating to iOS 12 at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference.
Stability aside, those installing iOS 11.4 will also experience some new functionality, as it does expose and we’ve previously mentioned in multiple pre-release seeding posts.
Installing iOS 11.4 will finally give access to Messages in iCloud – a feature that Apple has teased multiple times in the past without actually releasing to the public. The same addition will allow all messages to be stored in Apple’s iCloud platform and instantly synced across multiple compatible devices. including iPhone, iPad, and Macs running the latest macOS.
Apple, in fact also used iOS 11.4 to introduce AirPlay 2 functionality, which immediately sees Apple TV put back into the Home app. It will also allow audio content be played in multiple rooms on AirPlay 2 compatible devices. Also, as an additional treat, for those who have purchased the PRODUCT(RED) iPhone8 8/8 Plus, there are a couple of new unique wallpapers.
