Alongside iOS 10 beta 2, Apple has officially also made available for download macOS Sierra, tvOS 10, and watchOS 3 for registered developers. After initially announcing and releasing the first pre-release seed for those four major platforms during the opening keynote of WWDC 2016 about three weeks ago, the company’s team have clearly been hard at work trying to streamline and improve the experience as much as possible.
All that hard work has resulted in the on-time availability of the second betas of Apple’s desktop platform, its first wearable device, and the Apple TV 4. Here’s everything you need to learn about all three beta releases one-by-one.
macOS Sierra 10.12 Beta 2
Changed its name with a stranger one calling it “macOS” rather than OS X. Rather than focusing on any major outward-facing changes, Apple has applied resources into stabilizing the Sierra experience, attempting to eradicate any of the known issues that have become apparent during developers interaction of the first beta. Amount of changes and features introduced and bundled into the first version of “macOS”, it’s only to be expected that Apple will want that rejoice to be as pleasurable and as positive as possible to Mac owners.
For those who already running the initial beta of macOS Sierra, Apple has pushed this second seed to grab instantly via the Mac App Store. The installation file can also be downloaded directly from the Apple Developer Program portal if you wish to have an active developer account and are an enrolled member.
watchOS 3 Beta 2
This year’s Worldwide Developer Conference has seen the introduction of watchOS 3 during the keynote event. Those instant loading apps that involke up to 7x faster than on its watchOS 2 counterpart, and reasonably, who could forget that impressive and talking new animated Minnie watch face? Regardless of your favorite watchOS 3 feature, Apple has been working effortlessly behind the scenes since the unveil to ensure that it is on target for a faultless September public availability. Should be reflected in the improvements made to watchOS 3 beta 2.
As usual, the second iteration of watchOS 3 beta can be installed through the Software Update mechanism of the accompanying Watch app on the connected iPhone. If this is the first time you are installing watchOS 3 beta, you will first have to get the update by installing configuration file from developer.apple.com.
tvOS 10 Beta 2
tvOS is of course growing rapidly in popularity as more and more consumers look to reinvent and bring a different dynamic to their living room by purchasing a fourth-generation Apple TV. The introduction of tvOS 10 was a clear indication that the company sees great value in the progression of this platform with the reveal of a Dark Mode, powerful Siri integration, Single sign-on for streaming apps, and much more.
The second beta of tvOS 10 is available immediately for those developers building apps and experiences for the tvOS App Store, and internal features and amendments that should hopefully make tvOS 10 a lot more stable and reliable for those interacting with it.
To install tvOS 10 beta 2 update, if beta 1 is already installed, you can update directly from Apple TV itself, or you will need to grab the update from developer.apple.com.
Any other major changes or feature additions are discovered in any of these second betas, we will keep you updated. Stay tuned!
