iOS 9.1 Firmware Is No Longer Signed By Apple, Downgrade Not Possible

Sorry! Downgrade to iOS 9.1 no longer possible now, as Apple has stopped signing iOS 9.1 firmware will not be available to download or restore via iTunes and iPhones and ipads running iOS 9.2 cannot be downgraded to any previous IPSW version.

It may not be the festive news that jailbreak fans wanted to hear, but Apple has officially stopped digitally signing its iOS 9.1. 3K Assistant, partner to TaiG jailbreak team has confirmed that iOS 9.2 jailbreak is in progress yesterday, just after that announcement Apple has significantly took the step at the moment. Currently there is no jailbreak available for iOS 9.1 or 9.2. However, the internal decision made by Apple now means that a downgrade from the most recent iOS 9.2 firmware to the earlier iOS 9.1 is effectively impossible for anyone who may or may not have been considering going through that process.

The majority of hardcore jailbreak fans who have opted their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to stay jailbroken on iOS 9.0, 9.0.1, or 9.0.2 are fine. A stable jailbreak is available thanks to Pangu 9, meaning that those users have chosen to shun Apple’s latest iOS 9.1 and 9.2 firmware updates and continue to do so. For those individuals in hope of a jailbreak being made available for iOS 9.1 or 9.2, and accidentally updated to the versions are now unable to even go back to 9.1 IPSW.

Stuck on iOS 9.2? No worry, it could take sometime as the rumor mills already speaks about the TaiG JB community that has working jailbreak for iOS 9.1 and 9.2 firmware versions, which would work across all devices capable of running those versions of iOS. Pangu is already rumored to have a similarly working jailbreak solution for iOS 9.1/9.2 firmware, but rumor being sketchy at best, and we recommend to take it with a pinch of salt.

TaiG tool in progress.
It was Pangu released the latest and recent jailbreak back in October supporting earlier iOS 9.0/9.0.1/9.0.2, managed to blindside the majority of the jailbreak community. Users, developers, and bloggers alke were all taken by surprise when the Pangu 9 tool dropped for the Windows platform initially. Given that fact that Cydia and Substrate had undergone changes in preperation of the jailbreak. Now that we can only do is just hoping that the rumors are correct and that betterfy Pangu or TaiG drops a similar surprise on all of us very soon, before Christmas and New Year 2016.
