Apple has made available to download beta 3 of macOS Sierra 10.12.2 and tvOS 10.1 for Mac and Apple TV to those users registered as developers on the Apple Developer Program.
Just after releasing iOS 10.2 Beta 3 download for both developers and public testers, macOS Sierra 10.12.2 and tvOS 10.1 beta 3 pre-release seeds are now live.
Latest beta builds come hot on the heels of the release of iOS 10.2 beta 3, enabling Mac and fourth-generation Apple TV owners to get in on the action with the newer pre-release seeds designed to push these platforms forward. Here is everything to look at on what actually these releases brings with them.
macOS 10.12.2 Beta 3
This latest beta 3 seed builds on the earlier betas of macOS 10.12.2, and as expected, the pre-release comes in minor point update with no new outward changes or features, at least for now. the build contains a bunch of bug fixes and performance enhancements, including enhanced support for Touch ID and Touch bar that the new MacBook Pro comes equipped with. Interested ones who prefer to update to this latest release seed on their Mac can simply head over to the Mac App Store and initiate the update via the Software Update mechanism. Not yet registered as developer, can however need to head over to developer.apple.com to initiate the registration and download process.
tvOS 10.1 Beta 3
Now that things start to get more interesting with the release of tvOS 10.1. With this latest version of the Apple TV firmware, Apple has not only introduced the highly-anticipated Single Sign-On feature that allows users to authenticate once, and also gain access to multiple services, but is also expected to introduce the new TV app that was recently teased at Mac event. Currently, Apple doesn’t appear to have introduced any additional outward-facing changes into the platform, and only chosen to focus on stabilizing and enhancing the experience.
Installing beta updates, or any firmware for that matter, on an Apple TV can be a little more troublesome than on some of Apple’s other products. For anyone who has a beta configuration profile installed (requires connection to a Mac or PC via USB-C cable and iTunes) on the Apple TV, this tvOS 10.1 beta 3 seed can be downloaded and installed as an over-the-air update directly.
