Micramax Yu’s YUREKA And YUPHORIA To Get Cyanogen OS 12.1 Update (Based on Android 5.1) To Fix Major Bugs

Although YU team is currently testing ROM of the upcoming Cyanogen OS 12.1 beta update for both the Yureka and Yu Yuphoria smartphones, which is expected to fix several heating problems in the latter one alongside some major bugs, such as the proximity sensor and improve camera performance. First of all talking about the Cyanogen OS 12 powered Yu YUPHORIA, launched last month with more expectations, and dubuts at an affordable price segment, but plauged with issues. Now that, the Micromax’s Yu team is all set to rectify such issues by launching a software update that intends at quashing them and improving the user experience.

Issues on Yuphoria were faced with a display conking off in a week, multi-touch on keyboard was extremely buggy, and the camera performance was well below par. Now, all these issues can be fixed with an update, and seems that Yu is doing its job perfectly. Additionally, the Cyanogen OS 12.1 update can bring in improvements to audio, dialer, and thermal performance among others.

Yu YUREKA is the predecessor to Yuphoria, which has recently received Cyanogen OS 12 update based on Android 5.0 Lollipop back in April, and also received an incremental firmware update to improve the battery life last month. Today, Rahul Sharma, Co-Founder and CEO of YU has evidently announced that Cyanogen OS 12.1 updated based on Android 5.1 Lollipop is in final stage of beta testing, and will be rolled out very soon for Youreka and Yuphoria Cyanogen smartphones.

Regarding the Android 5.1 Lollipop based Cyanogen OS 12.1 Update, Rahul Sharma on official forum, said:

A very limited set of devices had issues with proximity sensor. We have addressed this now and will be providing patches which include the auto calibration of proximity sensor. We also have an updated firmware for the keyboard to improve typing and gestures. Additionally, the entire camera stack has been rebuilt with reworked camera tunings. This will greatly improve the camera to capture more details under various lighting conditions. Apart from these, few more auxiliary enhancements like audio, dialler, thermal performance have been added.

The oft-mentioned Yu smartphones got official CyanogenMod 12.1 Nightlies earlier this week, which can be able to download directly from CyanogenMod website. That said, installing custom ROM on Yuphoria or Yureka does not void your warranty.
