Apple has today provided its registered developers with the beta 2 of tvOS 9.2 download link, which is the operating system that runs on the fourth generation Apple TV and powers its built-in App Store. The new update to tvOS comes two weeks after Apple released first beta of 9.2. Beta 2 released just after tvOS 9.1.1 minor update that follows 9.1.
By means the tvOS installation is a bit difficult than updating beta for iOS and OS X. Installing tvOS beta requires Apple TV – connected to a computer with a USB Type-C to USB-A cable, with the software downloaded and installed via Apple’s Configurator or iTunes.
Those already installed the first, can make tvOS 9.2 download through Over the Air (OTA) update. Second beta of tvOS 9.2 introduces support for Bluetooth keyboards, allowing it to be paired to the Apple TV 4 for text entry. While the support is a major feature that was although missing from previous versions of tvOS and its adoption should make it much easier to do tasks such as entering passwords and the fourth generation Apple TV.
The tvOS 9.2 beta 2 update also introduced support for grouping apps into folders on the Home screen like on iOS devices, plus adds a new look for the App Switcher interface. It includes support for the Podcasts app inside tvOS 9.1.1, brings with it Mapkit so that developers can incorporate maps into ther tvOS apps, and the Siri integration for US Spanish (in United States only) and French Candian (in Canada only), UK English, Australian English, and US English are also made available as Siri options in the United Kingdom, Australia, and US Storefronts when English is set as the tvOS primary language.
tvOS 9.2 beta 2 Features: What’s new?
First: It brings with it full iCloud Photo Library access available on Apple TV with the second beta installed. It can now be enabled through the iCloud section of the Settings menu. In the current public version of tvOS, users can only view Photo Stream content on Apple TV.
