Nintendo To Launch SNES Mini Later This Year’s Holidays [Rumor]

Nintendo after successful iteration of Switch will soon follow up its smash hit NES microconsole with a miniature Super Nintendo this holidays, according to a report.

This rumor comes from Eurogamer, a source close to the company have confirmed the SNES mini is currently scheduled to launch in time for Christmas this year. That’s exactly what Japanese company Nintendo plans to do. Development of the said device is already under way, also indicated by sources.

Nintendo to continue official branding, likely Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Plans for SNES mini are also a major reason why last year’s NES mini did not see a respite from discontinuation, despite the latter’s continued popularity and sell-out status.

If the news surfaced become unique than it can be admitted that Nintendo will take advantage of the current global buzz around the business and its products to introduce a plug-and-play mini version of the iconic SNES.

Before the development on the mini SNES console, Nintendo has potential launch plans penciled for this year, especially targets extremely lucrative, holiday shopping season. Current attention may have been on the wonderful Nintendo Switch hardware, but still not forget the limited edition mini NES Classic Edition, though, was launched last year as a novelty item for the festive period.

On record, Nintendo has started that the mini NES Classic Edition all-time meant to be a limited product. This item manufactured in relatively small quantities to pacify certain demographic.

Now, it seems that production on that hardware wasn’t extended to cater for the ongoing demand due to the belief that Nintendo was well-aware that this SNES mini was on the cards as a direct replacement for that demanding experience. Continuing to offer the NES mini may have drowned out any interest in this new item.

Rather than coming as a direct copy of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo tends to adopt the same approach as it did with the NES Classic Edition complete with a set of re-loaded titles from the SNES era. 30+ games people expecting to want with inside Nintendo’s miniature SNES this year. That type of system would allow users to get up and running instantly out of the box. Potentially with games such as Super Metroid, Star Fox, Super Mario, and Super Mario World dynamically.

SNES Controller
Given how many admirable titles were available for SNES, it will actually be extremely interesting to see which ones come pre-installed onto the hardware this year, later on. As always, Nintendo has indeed declined to provide any official confirmation of the SNES mini, meaning it’s a waiting game until additional information leaks closer to the expected launch date.
