Nokia Mobile has made it official via Twitter as its Android smartphones including the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 devices will be launched in the United States (U.S.) as part of a planned “global release. Responding to a few queries on the micro-blogging channel, the HMD Global owned company specifically said that the devices will become available for purchase in the U.S. and Taiwan followed later. Although Nokia rep on Twitter doesn’t specify an ETA for the U.S. launch date and Taiwanese as well, but the devices aforementioned are expected to debut in the UK in May. The company behind the smartphones had earlier announced that it will launch all its upcoming Nokia-branded phones in India, considering the country one of it’s top ‘priority markets’.
Except the regenerated Nokia 3110, three new Android smartphones were introduced at this year’s MWC trade show by HMD Global, the Finnish startup that has the exclusive right to promote and market mobile phones under the Nokia brand until 2024. In terms of specifications and other hardware keys, the devices in question are the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, all of which are mid-range or entry-level handsets that doesn’t really offer anything exciting. However, the one device that has actually managed to grab everyone’s attention is an all-new take on the famous Nokia 3310 feature phone with Snake, originally launched a way back in 2000, and went on sale as one of the biggest-selling product and most-loved mobile phones in history at that time. Furthermore, there’s still an expected variant to launch as a flagship Nokia smartphone with fully premium hardware later this year, then again, the company continues to remain fairly tight-lipped about the details. Although that device will apparently be marketed as the Nokia 8, and touted to ship with a 5.7-inch QHD screen, 6GB RAM and a Snapdragon 835 SoC under the hood, making it one of the best devices to look further this year. All three devices aforementioned are powered by the decidedly entry-level Qualcomm’s SD430, and feature screens ranging from 5-inch to 5.5-inches in size. Are you all set to see the launch of the first true Android handsets sporting the Nokia brand? It will be interesting to see how that devices will be received by consumers once they’re launched globally in the near future.
