Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 has been launched alongside the Redmi Note 5 Pro at the confirmed event hosted in New Delhi today. With the company’s India head Manu Kumar Jain and product manager Jai Mani taking the stage to introduce the device. At the stage, the company has also showcased Mi TV 2. Here are the details.
The biggest change in the new smartphone compared to its predecessor is the bezel-less design, 18:9 aspect ratio, and the larger 5.99-inch display. In terms of features and specifications, the Redmi Note 5 battery capacity is 4000mAh capacity, and it is half a millimeter thinner than last year’s model.
While the Redmi Note 5 Pro is paced with up to 6GB RAM and dual rear camera system, which was also unveiled at the Redmi Note 5 India launch event. Both Xiaomi products are expected to offer a lot of feature additions at affordable prices.

The Redmi Note 5 camera will include a 12-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 1.25-micron pixel size, PDAF, and an LED flash module. While speaking about its HDR algorithm which enhances photos to deliver improved quality over the previous models in this range. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 625 processor, there are two variants available; 3GB RAM + 32G storage, and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. There’s a specially designed charger exclusively for the Indian market and will be giving a transparent silicon case free with the gadget.
Furthermore, the company is also bringing in the Redmi Note 5 Pro model to India, making the handset’s global debut. The Pro variant of Redmi Note 5 packs the Snapdragon 636 SoC under the hood but has a dual camera setup on the back (with 12MP+5MP sensors). It will come with only one internal storage option of 64GB, and two RAM variants; 4GB and 6GB. Both the sibling and the Pro model will be available in four colors; Black, Lake Blue, Gold, and Rose Gold.
Price and Availability
For the Redmi Note 5 price in India, starting at Rs. 9,999 for the basic 3GB RAM and 32GB variant, and Rs. 11,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option. As of the Redmi Note 5 Pro priced in India as well. Buyers will have to spend Rs. 13,999 for the 4GB RAM variant and Rs. 16,999 for the 6GB RAM model. Both the smartphone models will go on sale in India via Mi.com, Flipkart and Mi Home offline stores starting February 22. They will also be available in other offline stores “very soon.” Jio will be giving cashback worth of Rs. 2200 and 100% additional data on buying the new Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro smartphones.
Mi LED TV 2 (55″) Specifications
The company has also showcased the Xiaomi Mi TV 4 at the event, making India the first market to get the company’s TV outside China. One of the biggest features of the TV is that it measures just 4.9mm and is claimed to be 30 percent thinner than the iPhone 7. Whoa! The Mi TV 4 in India will be available to purchase in 55-inch 4K display (3840×2160 pixels) resolution screen and sport a frameless design.
Apart from that, the new Mi TV 4 also comes with integrated Mi TV Bar with 10 speakers, 2 wireless rear satellite speakers, and a subwoofer. The TV supports Dolby Atmos audio technology with 2 up-firing speakers for what the company claims can offer “an impressive 3D sound experience.”
Other specifications include in the Mi TV 4 is, it will come with content from HotStar, Voot, Sony Liv, Hungama Play, Zee 5, Alt Balaji, The Viral Fever, etc., and 80% of the content will be free to access, 3,500DTH operators in India will be supported by the new Mi TV.
Speaking of the design, the television also has a modular TV design, meaning that it can be upgraded in future. The new model features a single cable connection dubbed Mi Port which can connect Mi TV Bar to the display.
Xiaomi’s Mi TV 4 models also come in “transparent” stand that makes Mi TV 4 look suspended in the air even without mounted on the wall. Also added Xiaomi’s AI (artificial intelligence) based recommendations UI called PatchWall to the Mi TV 4.
PatchWall, is essentially a skin on top of the Android OS – based on deep learning AI technology. All Mi TV 4 models feature Samsung or LG 4K display panels. It comes with Cortex-A53 quad-core CPU clocked at 1.8GHz paired with a Mali-T830 image processor.
Mi LED TV 4 (55) Price in India, Release Date
It has been set for Rs. 39,999. Xiaomi says similar TVs by rival brands usually cost around Rs. 2,00,000. The company has priced the Mi IR cable at Rs. 2999. Users will get 3-month subscriptions for Sony Liv and Hungama Play worth Rs. 619 for free-of-charge. The Mi IR cable will be provided free as well. On top, buyers will get free installation – priced at Rs 1,099 – directly from the company on purchasing the Mi TV 4 within 3 months of its release. It will also go on sale via Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Flipkart starting February 22.
